Change in news functionality

There was an admin got his account closed this week for triggering automated anti-spamming protection, simply by issuing bunches of messages to his team mates, where he would usually have used the news function...

I'm an example. I PM and notes about 140 people along with my part time helpers. So combined (since I do more) is about 300-375

It does require A LOT of time and energy. But if we are all in V2 we need to face that. And VJK doesn't seem to accept that. Yes, I do agree that the FRs do need to be fixed but if we ALL go to V3 we can get SO many more players without exerting more time and energy in our day.

One example of spamming Gambit-Man was elvis_contreras. He got banned but was soon resurrected. Maybe that's who you're talking about.

No, it was someone else, who also got his account restored fairly quickly. But did he lose any games as a result? I'm not sure what happenes there...

If you're banned for a long period of time you'll lose all of your games however if you're brought back quickly some games might still be going. 

AIUI, some games are terminated immediately upon an account being closed, but some wait for the closed account to timeout. Not sure exactly what the criteria are

EXACTLY! We can't continue this thread forever guys. Eventually we're all going to be talking about this for so long, that V3 comes along and we don't have the option for V2 anymore. 

Yes it is very confusing, that is also something else that needs fixing.

Indeed G-man we did get his account back right away. The problem was the speed he was posting and not the amount he submitted. The news function has fixed in V3 but the news has to be created in V3 and read in V3. V2 will be on it's way out soon there will no updates taken place there. If any admin just feels they need to not use the News function then Please wait min of 30 secs between posts and if you are doing a whole lot increase the wait time to about 45 secs and you will have no problems   Cheers

Yes, I agree that news works better in V3 as compared to V2 after recent V3 improvements. I would still hope chess.com would exempt news from "ingore all" to match pre April functionality and the way friend's request works.

For now, as Riker said, wait between sending each PM and personalize each (say by cluding name or username of recipiendt). That is truely a lot of work and some groups, like "MONIKA", has stopped playing open matches until V3 switch has been completed and news can be used again effectivly. Further, other weekly or monthly forum activitities are on hold as well due to the current state of news functionality in V2.

There may be some groups with very active members were news gets seen now, but for the majority of groups the level of viewing is about 0.4%. I think also viewing as measured by chess.com is not unique users, but simply clicks??

I know this may sound crazy. 

But should we ask C.C to make the switch to V3? I mean we don't know how long V2 will be here much longer. Just like VJK said and MONIKA, the switch will benefit Monika group and all other teams so that We can keep having open matches. As much as I like V2, I want all groups like MONIKA to be happy playing in open exciting matches as well as my own team 1100 KINGS.

And yeah probably clicks.

This is our intention that is way I'm doing my best to get all members to try V3. If we can get 70% plus using V3 then I think the switch over could begin sooner. Erik is trying to avoid the just sudden stop of V2 and everybody logging in would just be is V3. The best way for all members to help the quick switch over to V3 would be to get everybody you know to make the switch to V3 then we can continue with the finalization of V3

Ok then that is a good idea. Maybe we should tell everyone in a forum to switch to V3 and we could tell our friends to take a look at it. Lol. I'm not joking though. We could just tell them to try it. It is up to the members though isn't it? I know that in the end V3 will come. But the members decide how long V2 stays. Right?

Ltristam: Ah! That was meant as a joke? I know I know. I as well as all others will have to get used to V3 . But heck, what will V4 be like?? Lol

New things can be scary. It is better for all of us that more tries V3, report glitches and provide constructive criticism. Just too expensive to maintain two systems.

Now improvements are made to V3 only and just a small fraction benefits.
