I only regret about the forums of poetry, bikes, jokes, cinema, athletics etc I have created in my team and I have to delete all of them because I don't want to leave anything in this site that does not respect essential dignities and destroys the peace in chess life of its clients, even harassing millions of them, ignoring them systematically for so long

Autonomous thinkers do not like it.   People that do what they are told and know their place in this world love it.

That is where the dividing line on this issue sits, regardless of numbers.

So, belittle those that like v3, by claiming they can't think for themselves?

Sure, let's go with that meh.png. It can't be that many things come down to subjective dislikes, though there are some very objective dislikes as well.

:/  I don't think we need to descend to acrimony.  For my part, I have been belittled and insulted by some various members over my views in several threads.  I'm rather thick skinned and am amused by the individuals that must resort to personal insults in order to quiet opposition.  Somewhat what our academic and political debates(ha!) have come to; it ultimately serves no one if this descension is followed.

Let us be better than that.

As have I for saying I don't like it. Friendly and welcoming ? Do me a favour. Once my membership expires that's me gone.

If I am indifferent to it, can I still express that here?

Does this forum really have 1100 posts? With the title Express if you like the new site or not? Just WOW.

The upgrade in March 2012 also had a lot of posts in a pretty short time frame, in at least one of the topics that resulted from it. In two months, one particular one, started by erik, had a similar post count in two months. Though, a third of the posts here are from before v3 was made the default site.

Some people even recently found it and started posting about v3 in it. It's now up to 1683 posts happy.png

Thanks...Martin is trying so hard that I am now going to google how to load a fresh Firefox profile, as per his last suggestion.

I like this site and want it to work.

I found the way to refresh Firefox and my profile was reinstated.

I logged on again and can now see  the resize/flip icon!

Came on the Site this morning, no changes to my set-up since last night and now the icon has disappeared again.

Simple, reload you're profile again.

Was that meant to be helpful?

Perhaps I'll write a batch file to reload my profile every morning.angry.png

Day Six.  I took part of the advice given in previous pages about re-size & flip board.  I updated my profile but I did not delve into Firefox Beta version 51.  So, my hovering still does not reveal the icons mentioned.

Thanks to all who offered help.  I'll just wait until Beta becomes Alpha.

Charlotte

just managed to upload a picture background, it would be nice if smaller images worked, rather than having to have massive 1000 x 1500 size, but i know it's not vitally important right at this minute. i'm still using both versions, mainly using v2 to play because v3 is very slow with lots of bugs

If it isn't working for you, something else is going on.

Also, software follows an Alpha > Beta > Release path. Firefox 50 and 51 should work fine, barring other potential issues.

Thanks, Martin.  I'll remain patient while things work out over time.

I, too, will remain patient, and non-combative. But, V3 is not, I am sorry to say, quite my cup of tea yet.

Just finished upgrading and FF 52 also works as expected.

Do you have any plugins or security software that might be blocking some of the scripts? Also, I don't know if you want to try what Trevor-D did, but trying with a new FF profile might help.

anpu3

I said I was going to be patient but now you ask me to ' try this, try that and/or try this AND that'.  Of course. I'm paraphrasing & taking a bit of license with your response.  I thank you for trying to be helpful.

But consider this...  if plugins & security software were no problem with V2, then how many hoops do I have to jump through to make V3 work for me?

Thanks, for your suggestions.  I sincerely appreciate them.  As I said earlier, I'll be patient and wait for V3 to improve.

erik

I found the dot!! (Only when you use CLASSIC mode, which sets the background to classic and top menu. And only in firefox. Argh. I'll get it fixed  )

And by the way, I read almost every post of this forum. It's helpful for me! We're all working like crazy to help address all of your concerns - all of them!

It really helps if you can be specific about what you don't like. If you just say "I don't like it!", I hear you... but I don't know what to do. If you say "I want my homepage to look like my old homepage" or "I think the font is too bold" or "When I play Daily Chess it's slow" - that all helps me!

And as an FYI - 85% of users are now on V3. We have been tracking games played, members logged in, etc. And the trends after the "big change" are actually - as we had hope - on their way UP.

Now, that doesn't mean that we are done  Or that V2 is going away (not for a long while still). I'm just saying that this forum thread doesn't represent the majority voice. We get a ton of "Love it" comments. And a lot of people who just went on with it and all is well.

However, YOU guys are the ones I want to win over! YOU are some of the longest-standing, most passionate users. That's why I'm here reading, creating tasks, commenting, messaging, and really working hard to figure out what you are saying. I know that you are saying "I want V2!!!" and I'm am trying to translate that into actions. There is a reason we aren't using Windows 95 anymore (Rest in peace, buddy! I loved you!!) - that's just not how software works. So I'm trying to convert your love of V2 into specific actions we can take to making V3 better - and more like V2 in the ways that matter.

Thank you for your insights and your patience and I hope you will continue to enjoy Chess.com (V3 or V2!) for a long time.
