In 3rd cycle, we were also experimenting using the improved modified Swiss system, named Accelerated Swiss. Explanation at link: http://www.metrowestchess.org/community/Knowledge/pairing/pairing_wintd_accelerated_pairings.htm
Accelerated Swiss is a variation of Swiss pairings in which the first two rounds are modified in such a way as to overcome the aforementioned weaknesses of the usual Swiss system, without compromising the reliability of the final rankings.
In usual Swiss tournaments with a wide range of playing strengths, the results of the first round(s) are usually quite predictable. In the first round, only a few percent of the games have a result other than "win to the stronger part". The same may happen again in round two.
In 3rd cycle, you will see how we had implemented it successfully in Rd-1 and Rd-2 using Accelerated Swiss, then back to normal Swiss in Rd-3 till rest.
The next (4th) cycle of SWISS OPEN 90m+30s will start on Apr 01
Number of Rounds: depend on number of players, but I expect Total 5 Rounds.
Rd-1 and Rd-1 will implement Accelerated Swiss. Rd-3 till rest back to normal Swiss.
2 weeks span between a Round and next Round.
Schedule:
Round 1: Apr 01 - Apr 15
Round 2: Apr 16 - Apr 30
Round 3: May 01 - May 15
Round 4: May 16 - May 31
Round 5: Jun 01 - Jun 15
Date/time to play: considering the players are from various Continent, we will never use a fixed time, but instead: you will have 2 weeks time span, to negotiate with your opponent, to find the best time to play the game within that 2 weeks time span.
