GM Fabiano Caruana won the week 22 Swiss of the Rapid Chess Championship presented by Coinbase.
Participating in the event were 53 competitors—now open to all GMs as well as the top-10 women, top-10 juniors, as well as 10 wildcards. The knockout takes place on July 14, starting at 9 a.m. PT / 18:00 CEST.
Caruana clinched clear first with an undefeated seven points. There was a three-way tie for second place among GMs Hikaru Nakamura, Nodirbek Abdusattorov, and Hans Niemann. GMs Samuel Sevian, Jeffery Xiong, Gata Kamsky, and Jules Moussard finished fifth to eighth with six points, claiming the last four qualification spots.
