New feature on this website

Sort:
dgx17

Hi,
After a particular move X in a chess game, many a times it happens that we find it would have been interesting to see (and play) what happens if the move Y would have been played instead of move X. In most cases both the opponents feel the same (that once the game is complete, then start the same game with move Y instead of X and play continue)

However, this feature is not available ... can this be implemented?

We can have some option (where the list of games displayed) that start this game from move 17 onwards, provided both the same opponents agree.

Please share your views.

(Note that I am NOT referring to the feature of allowing revert back of moves!)

Thanks.

Yeah.

That would be interesting! But let me get this straight. You're saying thread X, Y, and Z, should all be one thread, just because they are the same exact threads, by the same individual?Laughing

Maybe the threads are not quite exactly the same.  This might be that Einstellung effect.

Getting it straight would be XX + XY.  I believe XZ watches XX + XY in the same threads, so I think XZ is a sterile individual and a bit creepy.

Or have I misunderstood things. ??

So, let me get this straight. You're saying XZ should have the "new feature" of being able to watch XX + XY, but with a different move?

seems XZ would have no move.

XZ appears to be a voyeur, in my guesstimation, and continually watches XX + XY. So XZ would like to be able to change the move, or position that XX + XY were in. Not revert, we're not talking about reverting. Just change a move and watch it from that pointSmile

Is XZ actually sterile or is the proposed feature merely recessive?  My genetics classes were a long time ago.

Well, Herve never did reproduce, though it's not clear whether that was due to sterility or natural unselection in action.

Chess.com already allows the option to go back and analyze the game after it's over though, right?
