I took a corner rook with my bishop, next move the enemy player castles just his leftover king, my bishop disappears and his rook reappeared!!! Everyone in the game saw and said WHAT THA. 4 player team game (loss haha).
On FFA we usually tend to play together with others even if we don't mean to cheat. Because that's the best strategy to earn points. Usually winner gets lots of points, second player earns little bit, third player loses little bit but 4th player loses a lot . But if you start treating 2nd, 3rd and 4th the same there will be no point in playing together. So my suggestion is to remove points on same level for all three. What's your opinion and comments about that? Thanks Here's the example: Lets say these are the players at end of the game (and my imagination about how much points they should win and lose): 1st place anon1 rating: 1560 earns 20 points 2nd place anon2 rating: 1600 loses 12 points 3rd place anon3 rating: 1100 loses 3 points 4th place anon4 rating: 1300 loses 5 points

As you know, there is a new version of 4PC. (If you do not know about it yet, please read https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/please-help-us-test-the-new-version-of-4-player-chess ) All games (played in the new version) will be saved in the archive starting from this moment. Including chats. Right now the archive is available to admins only. Players will get access to their games later. Once the old version is replaced with the new one, all 4PC games will be saved, along with chats.
I've been playing this game (FFA) for quite sometime! I've been beating and beaten by top players. It was fun! Now, I can't even play a fully packed 15++> rated players. I seldom watched top boards with 16++> ratings. From my own observation, the total number of players playing 4 player chess is diminishing. The lowest I've seen was a total of 100+ players. It used to be 300+ to 400+. Sad moment. Maybe the time differences, but NO. It wasn't like this before. Maybe the cheaters, but even though where are they now. Love beating them if ever I had the chance. OR Are they BORED, hope not. But I'm still here, and I will BE!!! --- Set to a 15++ game, and still waiting . . . So I'm typing this thought of mine.

First of all, I'd say that the developpers made an amazing work to develop this 4 players chess. In this discussion I think it could be interesting to point out some ideas that could improve the experience. Indeed, I think the community is growing and I think this game is funnier than regular chess because of the teamplay aspect,. Personnaly, I only play in 4pc-teams so my remarks will only concern that part of the game. 1) We need a database ! It would be nice that the games that we played are archived somewhere so we could go back in them and analyze them. 2) A more interactive panel for matchmaking. Like a challenge proposal ; we could propose to play or accept challenges. A panel where we see who propose to play with their rating, etc. 3) A general chat to find teammates. The community in 4pc is big but it is quite difficult to keep up, to see who is online, etc. 4) Maybe it is too much but it would be nice to have an engine we can play against. That way we could improve by playing against very good opponents. Could be nice for analysis as well. Two points for the gameplay : 5) Maybe don't remove points for disconnecting in the first move of the game ? 6) Fix the castling bug and the double invite bug

This is meant to be a lesson for players who understand the basics of FFA 4 player chess and want to accelerate their understanding of some of the less obvious strategies. I have gradually come to the conclusion that it is worth attempting to queen a pawn in the opening if the others allow it, and it is worth stopping the others if you can without loss of more than a pawn or knight. This is dangerous, especially for beginners as you fall behind in development and make yourself an obvious target as with an extra queen you are likely perceived as a threat. So you have to know what to do with the queen once you get it and that is to find somewhere safe for it where it is not easily exposed to attack. Just as king safety is extremely important, queen safety is more important than in a 2 player game.

Would anyone be interested in writing down a game, perhaps with a few screen shots along the way, between four good player (either team or free for all), and then posting it in such a way that we can 'annotate' it (i.e. talk about it). IT would be best if the four good player agreed, so they can comment on their own moves, why they did it, what they were thinking, etc.??

I keep dropping seconds off my clock simply from not realising it's my move. It would be nice if there was a more prominent indicator. For example, if the rectangle with your colour would throb slowly.

I have yet to see a good primer on FFA strategy. It seems to me that anyone who does not play the teams version is unlikely to rate much above 1700. I wish they would seperate the two rating systems ! I am far from being an expert, but I have learned quite a few things over quite a few games. In this video I share my thoughts on some of the most important things you really should know if you ever want to get to say 1500. By the way - I bothered to do this mostly out of appreciation for all the great sharing that happens at Chess.com :-)

Can there be a section added to the next update to Create Notes on certain players so that you can write down which players make horrendous moves, which ones trade all their pieces in the first 10 moves, which ones sac pieces or set traps, etc
I guess everyone here has experienced the same frustration when a player (often in the 1150-1250 rating range) resigns for unknown reasons very quickly (within 5 moves or so). The equal chances at the beginning for every player are out of the window. This is disastrous for the chances of the player on the opposite of the board. First, he/she has almost no chance to capture that 20 points-king on the other side. Secondly, and even more unfair, he will be under attack on both flanks for the rest of the games. The other two players have a flank they virtually dont have to worry about, and they can push the outer pawn without much resistance. So what to do about this? Any ideas? Maybe a penalty for early resigning? I like to know what you think

Was playing a FFA game when I reached the strategic point: one of my opponents just checkmated another of my opponents, a while after I mated my third opponent. A quick glance at the score showed that I was ahead by more than twenty, so I resigned, and got the win.To which he responded, "Coward!".An interesting reaction. It was a legal move, which won me the game. I yield to no one in my disgust for players who resign 'early'... as in they are 'losing' and so just don't want to keep playing. I'm sure most of us have seen players who have even managed to win by 'just hanging' on long past the point where we would resign in two player chess, as we know that the other two can start beating on each other, and we can move even a lone king around the board... maybe even get in on a mate! But to resign and win? That is cowardly??

Why can't the app allow me to draw arrows? It's hard to communicate using the chat and often my partner doesn't look at the chat or use it. So how am i supposed to communicate?
