The first game was just me premoving basically and then blundering a piece, we won't show that tho hehe The score (With the first loss) is now 3 - 3 I believe
This is one that Hikaru showed Pokimane which im sure most of you saw, but there are counters to this checkmate, but counters to the counters , I won't show you so you would have to watch the video to see . No intermediate player I think would fall for this, but this is great for my level, but you never know hehe.. Here:

So today I played my first "true" 1500, and I got demolished lol. That's the first game. The second game was against a fellow 1480-1520 dude and I managed to clutch out the endgame after blundering a pawn in the opening. I'm not a master, but I thought I share these anyways because I found them pretty instructive Also, if there's anything the more advanced players would like to point out, feel free to do so!
Is it ok to sacrifice material that you won’t be able to get back in the beginning to get a positional or endgame advantage. If so, is a pawn the highest you should sacrifice or is it ok to sac a B/N too?

Green or Black Board color? Green’s easy on the eyes, blacks basic. What should I useeee

I have heard this idea flow around, so I will try my best to debunk it. We only had 20 people join last tourney. This is enough for it to run actively. With less people in each arena, it should die in a matter of minutes. I have played in many arenas with less than 10 people, and they always go inactive no matter who is in them. Lower rated players do have a chance to win in the tourney, even if there are high rated players. I sometimes get a good tourney placement by just playing it out and trying my best vs others. In the tourney, if I lost every game vs high rated. But won most of my other games. My placement would have been much higher. In summary, our current tourneys are completely equal. And putting them in divisions would only sacrifice activity. Thanks, @LazyDog24.

Hopefully I don't immediately fall back under 1500 lol, here were my last two games yeah... 1500
White to move. What is the only move that saves the game for white?
Idk how if there’s a name for this idea, so I’m just calling it running the bishop. It just worked really nicely against my 1300 opponent, so it must be decent. Heres the game: the idea is interesting because you use the bishop to pin the knight, and let your opponent naturally kick the knight out. All of this seems natural, as kicking the knight out has occurred thousands of times in my own games. The only difference here, is, you’ve made a place for the bishop to attack the corner of the kings castle, and bringing up your queen just a square (not too suspicious) and trading your bishop for the knight on the pin may be tricky enough for them to not see mate in 1! A more theoretical, non game example. c6 seems to be the move that allows the file to open the most efficiently, without raising suspicion: It’s not the best example, but I think the idea can be broken down into three simple parts: •Pin the knights with the bishops •allow your opponent to kick out your bishop, but now since you played c6, the file to attack the king is open •a simple queen bump up two squares lines you up for mate in one with a lot of movement going on, making it possible for your opponent to miss it

Fun fact my opponent in this game ended up winning all of his other games and won first place on tiebreaks, beating top seed who was 2270 NM. Repost because I realized some annotations were off.

Well, I’m going to learn more basic openings because I need to slow down a bit, doesn’t mean I’ll stop studying grunfeld and Sicilian and Dutch and fianchetto and other weird openings. Which is why I need to be a bit more my level when I don’t want to be. So I’m going to study the Caro-Kann, and was wondering if anybody could post theory/mainline stuff here. Maybe like your favorite variation so I could analyze which one has a least counters to it. all I know in the caro are counter, I.E. Fantasy , Tal

Ola, so you are like, "WTF IS YOUR PROBLEM STICK TO ONE OPENING JESUS!!?!?!?!" But I have picked my 3 openings to play up until about 1200-1300 ELO. Then I go back to Sicilian hehe.. 1 - London System (d4, white) 2- Caro-Kann (vs. e4, black) 3- Dutch (vs. d4, black) I also have questions.. 1. How should I play vs. this - This is kind of a weird variation of the London system and was wondering if I should push e3 or push the central pawn, but there are queen problems (I.E. Qb6) How to Counter the KID? This is what I have so far, but I need help if my opponent plays h5. But.. What if this happens?? (W/ideas) Caro Questions 1. What theory should I play against white's advanced? I don't like the idea of the Bf5 because the tal for white is dangerous. I do like the idea of the Botvinnik though. Dutch Question I don't know much theory about the dutch, or variations, which is why im going to consult with my openings boi (@ChessHistoryRocks) and help me with this. But if anybody could give me theory on variations of the dutch, like the Christmas tree . If you have any other things/strategies to tell me, please do so! I need to crush my opponents lol. Th-n-anks!
So as you may or may not know, I have been studying the caro mainly for black. I was wondering how to defeat the caro, i.e. brilliant ways to attack or have theory for me. I also know the Botvinnik thingy variation, Tal, and barely anything of the Bf5, maybe about 2-3 moves. I don't want to go deep into it, but I would like to somehow counter the pawn on e5.

all the rating points I lost from 2260 to 2130 and back up again today were worth it (don't actually play this lmao black basically plays whatever he wants and white still struggles to equalize) I totally didn't win by cheese @viznik proof 2.Bc4 is too good
Chessking4640 Jul 26, 2021
I'll do the challenges at somewhere between 1200 and 1400 rating and rate its difficulty from 0 (no challenge) to 8 (I can't do it). For comparison wining with botez gambit on move 3 is 2.5/8 I did my own challenge which is: - Give 3 checks and the king to the middle before opponent and before the game end - Give away all pieces and pawns - Draw on time Difficulty: 7/8

So Uh needless to say I slowly got crushed, but There are a few moments to talk about. 14. Qe2 was horrible, as it's inviting Nf4 Also Nf4 crushed me. Next up I could have played a4 several times to prevent ra4 Kf1 was bad because I can't run my king, TAkeaways g3 was bad as bg5 was advantageous(the queen could have gone to b3 luckily my op no see) 8.dxc4 could have won a pawn bxc3 was winning because ba3 traps my king ne4 won I miscalculated forgot about qxb7 There were a lot of blunders mostly because we both were playing for a win Endgame easy just no let pawn de ne4 was bad as white could castle later I'll add the rest later too lazy rn
