Idk how if there’s a name for this idea, so I’m just calling it running the bishop. It just worked really nicely against my 1300 opponent, so it must be decent.
Heres the game:
the idea is interesting because you use the bishop to pin the knight, and let your opponent naturally kick the knight out. All of this seems natural, as kicking the knight out has occurred thousands of times in my own games. The only difference here, is, you’ve made a place for the bishop to attack the corner of the kings castle, and bringing up your queen just a square (not too suspicious) and trading your bishop for the knight on the pin may be tricky enough for them to not see mate in 1!
A more theoretical, non game example. c6 seems to be the move that allows the file to open the most efficiently, without raising suspicion:
It’s not the best example, but I think the idea can be broken down into three simple parts:
•Pin the knights with the bishops •allow your opponent to kick out your bishop, but now since you played c6, the file to attack the king is open
•a simple queen bump up two squares lines you up for mate in one with a lot of movement going on, making it possible for your opponent to miss it
