I am so excited for the upcoming tourney!! I have a ton of nerves which is kinda stupid considering its only a club tourney. Ill probably lose because I'm an 800, but its fine. One Question, how long will the tourney be? In terms of min/hr P.S. I apologize for not having my main account up right now, a bit irresponsible. (-Parker)
This was a game I played on lichess a while ago against the Maia bot

My mind throughout this game (referring to the wayward knight in white's territory): Also, I drove for four hours today, then came back and played like 50 rapid games, my head hurts so much Why did I do that? Also, Budapest Gambit OP

Black launched an attack with the Queen very early & basically I was lost very early on. What is the best way to handle these sorts of attacks before I have any chance to set my pawn structure, etc.?

So this is my second time playing the Traxler, and also the second time I’ve majorly blundered a piece. I need help understanding a concept in the Traxler; am I suppose to be okay with giving up my rook or knight to get my queen into position? Take a look at this game, I blundered my queen because I was too focused on trying to protect my knight. Initially, I thought I should just sac the knight to put the king in check, then bring the rook out kicking the knight away... but I didn’t feel like it was the right play. Ignore the rest of the game - I offered draw twice for my opponent in a totally drawn position, then even repeated moves to offer draw yet again - but he decided to try and flag me after pretending we were going to draw by repetition ... which he didn’t because my position was too solid to penetrate with his time. Ignoring all that - should I have sacked the knight? What was I suppose to do here Edit - the engine says Qh4 is best, which is what I was going to play but I was like... am I supposed to lose the rook here?

The tournament winner will NOT be decided on Chess.com tiebreaks. For example if two people are tied on 3.5, then they will play a match of 3 games to decide the winner, no matter who had the higher Chess.com tiebreak.

I know some members like @little_guinea_pig and @DaBabysBurner have gone from virtually not playing any chess to, in a matter of less than a year, being rated 2000+ (little Guinea) and 1700+. My question is how? They say often they started taking studying seriously - but what does this mean? How can I - and others - experience same extreme improvement?

Coming off a 3 game losing streak I got to play the Traxler perfectly for a checkmate. I’m just glad my opponent missed it because I don’t really know what to do next after g3, and when he played best move Kg1 I thought I was screwed lowkey

https://www.chess.com/live#g=18757226285 Idk why he resigned I defended with the Scandinavian Defense. He took the pawn i took the pawn with queen. Then he blundered his queen and i took his queen with my bishop.

Happy April Fools Day! April 1, 2025: “The ability to play chess is the sign of a gentlemen. The ability to play chess well is a sign of a wasted life.” -Paul Morphy, GM. (Do you think he stole this quote from his dad who shamed him into quitting chess?)
