I recently updated my iphone4 with the new ios4.3. Ever since doing so, the chess.com app frequently appears to loose connection, but there is nothing really wrong with the iphone's wifi or 3G connection. This seems to occur after the iphone or the app is idle for a while. All other apps and internet functions on the phone work just fine. The only ways I've found to restore the chess.com app connection is to cycle the power off/on, delete/reinstall the app, or cycle the wifi off/on. Could this be some compatibility issue with ios4.3? Something else? David

i cant watch videos. it is seriously lagging whenever i want to watch a vid. is there a way to download the previous version?

I just got the new version of the iPad app (btw very nice app) however, it is MUCH slower than the old version. I use to be able to tap on, online games and get there In an instand. BUT now it says, updating the list and I have to wait about 5 seconds and thats every time I click on online chess. Why is this new version slow? Howevdr, I do LOVE the app. Erik, I commend you on doing a wonderful job building this website

Is there another list of known issues+bugs for the iphone app? If not, this seems like a good place to start reporting new ones.

from reading the forum, it seems that there is a need for more beta testers, but have had no response from the email I sent as requested... have ipad & 3Gs, am also on dev program so can test on beta versions of OSs if needed - let me know Alasdair

how about disabling the home/online/computer/tactics/video buttons at the bottom as to not inadvertently hit them while setting up a game. or how about if you hit the button it saves the board setup and then switches the screen. My buddy an i were just trying to "save" a game and i accidentally hit one of those buttons twice...

I recall this coming up in beta, not sure if it was ever fixed, but it's happening to me again: Sometimes I'll complete a problem, get it right, and get negative points to my rating. This doesn't happen on the web site:

Has anyone else noticed how much the performance of the iPhone app has gone in the tank lately? I'm on the latest version, according to the App Store -- according to the news here, that should be version 1.31, though my About screen only shows version 1.23.Here's my litany of complaints:1) With every passing build it takes longer and longer to start up. It was a nuisance when that meant 10 seconds, but I just ran a test, and the average start time over 3 trials was 25 seconds -- to get to the Main Menu! God forbid I leave the app from Online Chess; that average startup time is 50(!!) seconds. These are not exaggerated perceptive times, I'm sitting here with a stopwatch. No other app takes even close to this long.2) Speaking of Online Chess, why does it take so long to refresh the game list? I only have 24 games going; it's not like it needs to download a titanic amount of data. Again, much slower than it used to be.3) Moving between games has taken a similar hit. It used to be that you'd hit the arrow to go to the next game, and there would be maybe a 1-second delay. Now -- who knows? It's so variable that I'm not going to try to time it exactly, but 10-15 seconds is not unusual. Without some kind of waiting icon, I don't even know if I've hit a button. And, sometimes if I hit the button again before it finishes doing whatever it's doing, it will skip ahead multiple games. Not good.4) The network timeouts are as bad as ever. You know this message - "There is no active Internet connection." I've seen this ever since beta, and it's never gotten any better, no matter how strong or fast my network. I can be on full-bars 3G or Wi-Fi, I can surf to ESPN or CNN's homepage in 12 seconds or less, it doesn't matter. Again, it used to be a nuisance, but when I'm looking at almost a full minute to restart the app (the only way to recover from this state), it's quite a bother now.I've been using the chess.com iPhone app since beta, but today was the first time in a long time that I just threw up my hands and went back to the web site -- we've now crossed the line of unusability. I always liked this app despite the problems you've never quite been able to flush out. Please devote some development time to salvaging it before you even start to think about integrating more features... I can't imagine the firestorm you'd ignite trying to play Live Chess in its current state.

Hi, For me it's been the case from the beggining but it seems to get worse and worse. The app has a terrible time trying to connect in all 3 mode (wifi 3G and edge). It takes "forever" to establish the connexion (almost a minute), but before that, I have to quit and relaunch the app 2 or 3 times before it can make connection. Once it's connected it does not stay connected for very long. I have time to make one move, maybe two, then it's the no connexion box again, quit and relaunch. It's like that even at home with a full wifi signal... But when it connected it's a great app! One of my favorite off course!!! ;)

Has anyone thought about implementing the Live Chess functionality of the site for the iPhone app? There are several good existing apps that can do this via FICS - this seems like something that our app should have! Does anyone else agree?

Any news on if/when this might be available?

We currently have it where every time your opponent moves it should increment the badge on your iphone. Is this working for you? If not, please let me know.

The app is not working anymore. I uninstalled and reinstalled it but the app still crashes when trying to connect to my account. I noticed those last days that the app was taking several minutes to connect whether on wifi edge or 3G. Push notifications works great now thanks! But strangely when you're using the app the games don't update very often. You have to exit and relaunch chess to see your oppenents moves. Hope this help and that you'll find a cure. Thanks alot.

Hello and thank you so much to the developper for this app! It's great to be able to play on your iphone with players that don't have an iphone... To the point : it would be great if the confirmation screen was not a popup screen and most definitly NOT on top of the chess board! It's hard to confirm if you can't check what you did because the popup screen hides the board. If you see what I mean... Again thank you. Vania

Is there anybody else that can´t move any piece in the online games? It works fine when I play against the computer, tactics or do the analysis. By the way, the new download have sorted out a couple of bugs (I can change settings now) so keep up the good work! /Kobbe

Chat doesn't seem to work on 3G, only in wifi mode. Also, as someone mentioned, having some sort of notification like the icon changing color would be great! Thanks
