Hey everyone,
I'm John. im a 33 year old network engineer and am currently in school for data science. i saw Matt was a statistician so im hoping his methods match up with mine, as data science and stats are very similar. I have just purchased silmans end game guide and yusupov's book as well. they are in the mail.
my rapid rating is about 1400 right now. my blitz is is 863. im terrible at blitz and i honestly hate it. im going to try and get the blitz games in but im dreading it.
with white i play the english/ will transpose to a qgd if they play d5. with black i know zero theory and have somehow found my way to playing the accelerated dragon against e4 and a KID against anything else. i am just starting now to look at some youtube guides on the KID instead of just winging it. since its the middle of the week im just going to do week one twice since i dont have the books yet.

Hi,I am starting my chess journey! I started playing chess in December, mostly solving puzzles. I think this study plan will help me play more games. I am especially unfamiliar with blitz chess. Long ago I started this plan and for reasons I don’t remember I ended up leaving. After going from flower to flower with different tools and plans and not having finished tuning into any, I decided to start again with this 12-week plan and finish it no matter what.

I will update this post weekly with my improvements or deterioration of the respective ratings and my learning in the different aspects of the plan.
I will play blitz games with a time control of 5+5 and rapid games at 15+10. In addition, I will play 2-3 slow games (30+30, 45+15 or 90+30) in different leagues in which I am enrolled on Lichess.org.
Sorry for my bad English, I’m Spanish. I’ll start on Monday so on Sunday, June 4, you’ll find out how I’ve been doing in my first week.
