Did someone already invent this variant piece? Or am I the first? Here is a picture how would it move (I made it with Omnichess, ignore the size of the board): I would give this piece 8-9 points, it's very strong. Btw, this is my first post here in the custom variants club!

The crowned bishop is a piece that may move to any adjacent squares. It can also switch color because the wazir properities are jointed to the bishop.  Its value is considered to be equivalent to a rook.  I think this piece should definitely be available.

Basically there is a gorilla, maybe an AI or something, I've only played IRL where my friend is the gorilla, but that's not the point. Each turn you have to convince/glaze the gorilla to take the opponents' pieces or defend your own and stuff like that. if you do not give a convincing speech to the gorilla, it might turn on you😈. Tell me what you think!

Find the clues, solve the puzzle, finish the game, and return to normal life. Are you up to the task? Hey there! I'm 2b, and I'll be your host for this scavenger hunt. - First, here are the signup requirements: 1) Know Chess.com variants' history. Technically, this isn't necessary, but knowing very little about this will make the scavenger hunt seem like chapter 7 of Celeste (or, in other words, a pain to play). 2) Be able to access Variants World. This one is necessary, since a lot of clues have their solution be a VW post. 3) Sign up before August 25th at noon, Greenwich Mean Time. You'll most likely get an extra hour due to me setting up the teams, but don't rely on it. Unlike a certain competition (cough cough), it will start on August 25th, no matter what! (If it doesn't, I'll change my pfp to an anime girl) -[Signups ended] - How the hunt will work: There will be three paths, each leading to a different 1-digit number. The goal is to be the first to DM the 3 numbers to me. -You are allowed to ask me for hints via DMs, but you'll get 1 point for every hint you ask for. I'm doing golf scoring, where points are bad. The team or player with the fewest points will win. Here's how the point system works: -10 points -- Finished 1st -7 points -- Finished 2nd -4 points -- Finished 3rd -1 point -- Finished 4th or later. +1 point -- Asking for a hint. +1,000,000,000 points -- Forfeiting. This should essentially take a player who forfeits out of the running. - The prize is this virtual cookie 🍪. I'm broke and can't gift memberships. - Here are the contestants: Chocolate Bar From EE: @ChocoCaramelPawnLebron James: @lebronlover272Olive Branch: @Oliver_Brimley (Forfeited)Quasar: @bluestar-8Misty Mint: @MistMintBishop Ferz Knight: @BFN_FootSoldier2312The Centennial: @ttcentenialGym Security System: @GymnastLazer829That One Nintendo Character: @BlueYoshi (not active days 1-2)The Pescatarian: @VishTheFish771The Triune Wasp: @I_Eat_Pawns_4_Breakfast, @michaelhu324, @b2alexb2,I'm out of ideas : @TK-5271 (Forfeited)Too Pea See: @asthebird, @yOyOmAbOiNgBoInGAntarctica: @GMPenguinland - - Path 1 is made up of riddles, Path 2 is made up of cyphers, and Path 3 is purely VW knowledge.-Here are your starting clues (these are 3 different paths, btw): Path 1. A world can be created, but it isn’t known until one sets foot on it. Path 2. This variant is one of a kind: "h nlzl" Path 3. [this is a paragraph, bear with me lol] 'New Guests Gather Yearly Upstairs.' People who find success make autobiographies, right? Should I do that? Four Occasionally, I find a former user and just take a peek at their rating. - (no, the number at the end of Path 3 is not 4) - Apparently there's some confusion, so here's an explaination: The 3 clues I put up on the main post are the first clues of 3 different paths. Your goal is to solve all three paths. At the end of each path is a 1-digit number (except the 3rd one, but it's obvious what the number is once you get there). Each clue will lead you to the next clue, assuming you solved it correctly.

So it goes like this: It's normal chess. But with a twist. On the 3rd rank, your pawn promotes to a Unicorn (it's a colorful pink knight with a horn). They can go any direction, they can jump over pieces, they can take pieces, everything except going in an L-shape like a knight (simply because that is too common). They can also promote to a Yeehawer in the same rank. A Yeehawer is just a brown cowboy hat. They can move one square around them, just like the king. They can't jump over pieces, they can take pieces to promote to a Horse. A Horse can move just like a rook. The Horse can jump over pieces. That's it! I just need to know where I can make it

Post for the previous month's vote:https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/vote-for-augusts-golden-variants-2025 Not sure on what some of the terms in this post mean? Have any other questions? See any typos? Feel free to ask and comment below! (Scroll down to the start of the bold text if you want to know how to vote without reading my entire post 😀) Hello again everyone in the CV club! Apologies for getting this post out so late; as many of you know, the Platinum Variant vote will be held this month, and one of the contender variants has an all-week arena that's actually still ongoing! Luckily for all of us, it would've qualified even if the arena ended right now, so this post can get out ASAP. In addition, as per usual with these Golden Variant announcement posts, information regarding the Custom Variants club in general will also always be listed here. There are a fair few notable points that will be addressed that will hopefully clear things up regarding recent events. To start off, many of you are likely aware that our Variants.World (VW) submission platform is currently bugged and does not allow users to submit variants, and @qilp is still looking to identify the issue that is causing the issues on top of managing the variants server bug fixes. We currently don't have any plans to restart the submission process until VW is fixed, mostly because of the mess that forum submissions would cause and the lack of moderation + post archival tools that CGAbot used to provide for us. Of course, this project is open-source, so if anybody is very good at TypeScript/JavaScript and can help identify the issue, that would be of tremendous help. Next on the list is a recent change involving the entire variants server, in that "common" variants such as KOTH and 3-check have all been migrated over to the variants server from the play/live chess server. There are NO plans currently to make Chess 960 a variants server exclusive (it is currently available on both servers) and there are certainly not any to move bughouse. See the full official chess.com announcement by staff member @JuditSztaray. One issue with this change is that Swiss tournaments are currently not available and tournaments in general can only be created by Custom Games Admins (CGAs); the original tournament schedule also has not been carried over. Per instruction from chess.com staff, we will be honoring requests from variants clubs to create arena tournaments for them in the meantime, such as in this case linked. Whether you find this change to be a net positive, negative, or something in between, I would also like to give kind reminder to all club members here that the CGAs and NCV Testers are all volunteers and that we will try to do the best we can to accommodate this new responsibility... Last on the list of important announcements... is that we have finally hit 10K members 🥳! We will hopefully have a celebration event (likely arenas) in the next few months, although with two Platinum Variant and perhaps a Festive Fortune event again this year, there will be a little less time to accommodate an event, particularly one that would be prized. Thanks to everyone for the great support in this club, which has against all odds grown to be larger than even the main Variants club! To end things off as usual, here are the CGA testing stats for this month, with some slight modifications given the situation with VW: There are currently 43 (down from 117 around 1.5 months ago) variants Under Review (aka UR, not including bugged variants). Of those 43 variants, 24 are NCVs and 19 are WoFs. The last variant submission post was made on August 2nd.  In the last 14 days, 2 variants have been reviewed and given a verdict. As always, you can track our progress here:https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/variant-verdict-feed Now that that's done, let's move onto the voting! General Format Info: To save space, much of the info previously found in this section has now been consolidated into the Golden Variant Schedule page, which you can find below: https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/2025-golden-variant-schedule Please read this in full! On top of general info, all previously selected variants, a link to last year's schedule, as well as links to previous votes are also included in this page.  Platinum Variant Info: The Platinum Variant is a week-long (168-hours) arena that currently happens every 3 months. The 5 variants from each quarter-yearly (hence, the names Q1/Q2/Q3/Q4) interval of Golden Variant arenas with the most player activity during the arena are selected as candidates for the Platinum Variant. Winners of the Platinum Variant vote are considered the fastest rising variants and are projected to become even more popular in the future, with previous winners including:  Minihouse (by @MrKheese, 2024 T1 Winner); now a "Featured" list variant! Ambush (by @coolthing, 2024 T2 Winner) Saturn's Rings (by @asthebird, 2024 T3 Winner) Explosive Magic (by @BN1208, 2025 Q1 Winner) Ashtandrez (by @martinaxo, 2025 Q2 Winner) We also have PRIZES for the top 3 finishers in the arena!: 1st Place: 1 month membership 2nd Place: 1 month membership 3rd Place: 1 month membership Q3 Candidates for Platinum Variant: In no particular order, the 5 candidates are... Charybdis (by @imchesspro0930) Warui-shogi (by @Dan-kyu_System) Best Friends Forever (by @stupnik_2_0) Sergeants Checkers (by @Maximillian99) Cornered (by @BlueYoshi21) This will be the only vote for this month, but make sure to choose carefully! You may vote for more than one variant, or select a favorite to win. These variants all have the potential for more influence in the future ahead. How to vote: There will be a comment added directly below this post that will be designated as the official voting platform. Simply react to the post with the given emojis that correspond to each variant by clicking on them, and your vote will be registered! We previously used StrawPoll, but haven't used it for a while due to suspicious activity on a vote a few months ago; using chess.com forums allows us to verify that each person is a real chess.com user. See an example of a vote below: Because this is the Platinum Variant vote, only the top finisher will win and be featured in the prestigious all-week arena, starting in a little over a week after this post goes live! The polling will end on September 24 at 0 UTC, so make sure to get your vote in before then... Happy voting and may the best of the best win this vote!

I have an idea for a bunch of new pieces:   Checkers: Just a checkers piece but no forced capture[1]Omni pawn: Moves like a wazir and captures like a ferz[3]Star: Combines King and Alibaba[3]Steed: Moves like a xiangqi horse but can capture orthogonal pieces on its way[5]Vampire: Turns into the piece it takes, starts off as a king[7]Sniper: Moves 3 squares in any direction but does not move if it captures[5]Watchtower(I think this Idea has already been suggested): Combines rook and ferz[7]Dragon: Moves like queen but captures like a king[7]Peasant: Dabbaba that can only move forwards and backwards[2]Emperor: Moves like amazon but does not move when it captures.[15] Please let me know your thoughts. Also, do we have like a forum for piece suggestions like we have for custom positions

Hi guys, I am the owner of the largest KOTH club on Chess.com (1,700 members) and I am looking for Chess.com admins to organize KOTH tournaments. I saw in @JuditSztaray's latest announcement that we need to come here for help in order to recreate variant arenas in a club. My club organizes many arena-based KOTH competitions, as well as the KOTH World Championships (available only to club members), which we have been organizing for three years now. With this update to Chess.com variants, we can no longer organize anything, even though this is the very essence of my club. If possible, I would like to get an admin's attention to help me restart these competitions or explain how to do so. Thank you!
