I don’t think she was talking about this thread. If you read what she said the subject matter of the thread she mentioned is not this thread.

Just a bunch of crybabies. They put themselves out there for comments, then complain that you comment and feel insulted. Then the trolls come along, and point out their mistakes, and sometimes, trolls make good points on stupid things that they point out. They are only trolls because the OP will get offended by the troll's lack of political correctness.

just not because of this forums were a peaceful place 2 months ago, but now its a completely different story

I'm sure eventually all this will change way later on when every kid goes back to school or college and everyone goes back to work & the Virus is also gone! . . .

I might even start participating in other things here . . .

I signed up on three tournaments and I'm playing more games . . .

Bye for now.

I can sympathize.  It probably won't change, though.  This is the new norm...interactions are short, attention spans are shorter, and anything over a short paragraph is considered TL;DR.  People can't read long novels (somebody, can't recall who, said the other day that The Lord of the Rings was a tough slog of a read and they went to audiobooks instead).  Many people want to have all interactions via text and social media by default, and go way out of their way to do something online to avoid any personal interaction.  The same problem that exists in Japan, where a large number of people don't even date or have relationships anymore, and don't even know how (beyond what they see on media)...it's coming here.  People don't learn anymore, they absorb and discard, sure that when they need some knowledge later, they will just find a YouTube video and follow along.  But a YoutTube video can only teach you so much.

My girlfriend's younger sister came over a while back and made us mac and cheese for dinner...not a hard task by any means wink.png.  But in the process, she ruined a non-stick cooking pot (scraping the hell out of it with metal utensils), and a cutting board (which she was merely slicing cheese on, but she hacked and hacked at it like she was butchering a cow).  This is what happens when you watch videos to learn things instead of doing them and learning the feel/texture of stuff.

Hunnie, It's already here. People can't put their phones down. Chess.com is now my only means of social media, otherwise I don't use it.

I use my phone constantly myself.  I worked for tech companies all my life, and I am proud of helping spread the internet around the world.  But that's the thing...I use my phone as a tool, not my umbilical cord to the rest of humanity.

Never tried a cell phone. Maybe it's time to get one . . .

When i used to work my employer gave us techs a cell phone when they first came out . . .

All the employees abused them for personal use so everyone had to pay all the excess monthly. . .

He announced the the only one excluded was myself because i never ever made calls . . .

Even when i wasn't a tech i was allowed to keep the cell phone . . .

When i retired i never missed it . . .
