@jacmater And don't think for a second that those red felt pads went unnoticed. Nice touch to bring it all together.
5 Dubrovnik Sets Comparison

I'm in line for another Minceta (had to sell mine to make ends meet during COVID lockdown)... But it's going to be 2022 by the time that shows up most likely. Ack!
Love the Staunton Castle version - especially for the price! The only question is... To antique? Or not antique? As much as the idea of fake antique finish shocks and appalls me... I kinda like it.

I am not a big fan of antiqued. I would always go with plain boxwood if possible. However, I really like the SC antiqued 1950 shown in this thread. https://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess-equipment/dubrovnik-1950-the-definitive-reproduction. I think this looks good being paired with a stained dark army. Check it out at post #6.
You know, I'm leaning towards regular boxwood this morning. I've seen some samples of the SC antique finish that look good an others that look a little too "brushed on." Better to get it natural and stop worrying about it i think.
but the set overall? really digging it. forget the history, just a good looking set!

Whaatt? The cheapest lathe is 540 euro without add ons?
I just signed up for a lathe class. I'm still wondering how I can bring my tool with me to the class.
