Books for beginners?

Sort:
Avatar of korp6921

I have recently become interested in playing chess again. I played occasionally when I was younger, and I know the basics of how the pieces move and check/checkmate/stalemate/etc., but I only ever played with the strategy of "get the king". I'm looking for books that would be good for beginners. Some that have been suggested are:

"Pandolfini's Ultimate Guide to Chess" - Pandolfini

"Chess 101" - Schloss

"Chess Fundamentals" - Capablanca

"Batsford Book of Chess"

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yassar Seirawan's "winning" series is excellent.

There are also some awesome videos to watch.

(It is not books, but there are enough reading to keep you busy for a while)
