to be honest, I just dont think that 74% winning rate makes it a refutation to the Sicilinan
Anything over 66% is good as that means I will gain rating the more I play it.
As I have said, a good opening for beginners and club players until 2200. Then, the database starts to open up.

Against players 100+ rated higher than me, yes, as I frequently say play against them.

I remember a game I played against the Alapin and it wasn’t long before I lost.
The Ruy Lopez Brentano Gambit has 100% white winning rate. Take THAT Alapin Variation!
