If I try the Sicilian, which variation(s) should I try?

I'm 1000 so nothing too complicated or too crazy.

At your current rating, I recommend not playing any variations of the Sicilian or even the Sicilian at all--as it is way too complicated and too theoretical.

All Sicilian variations are complicated. They require either excellent positional understanding, or deep memorization and tactical ability.

You can play the Accelerated Dragon and hope that you won't have to enter a complex positional battle against the Maroczy, or the 4 Knights Sicilian which does not have a ton of theory, but it is not that easy to understand, either.

Or maybe you can innovate very early on and play 1.e4 e5, although I am not too sure about the name of this Sicilian.

I disagree, the reality is, you don’t have to know and understand the Sicilian on the level of this IM above me…you just have to know it better than your opponent, which is easy to do at our level where it’s far rarer. Play whichever Sicilian version’s name sounds more interesting to you, or don’t play the Sicilian at all! It doesn’t matter, just don’t let anyone tell you shouldn’t play an opening because it’s “too complicated for you”.

I'd suggest the Four Knights. You get simple, rapid development this way. When white doesn't play the main lines you can usually push d5 very early. Pushing d5 is very often the goal in the sicilian... after you achieve d5 the game is usually almost equal, you just have to remember to defend the kingside (try to keep your queen in the vicinity, and be aware of how many pieces white has over there)... and see if you can trade off whites pieces, especially his bishops. Also... don't trade your darksquare bishop off for a knight. Do that and you will be fine.
You don't have to play the sicilian precisely when your opponent isn't playing it precisely. Looking at the stats the sicilian is scoring well at lower levels.

I played the Sicilian Najdorf as Black in over-the-board rated tournaments (including two FIDE rated tournaments) from the time I was rated 1400 CFC onward.

Played it against Tal in 1988 in Saint John in a simultaneous exhibition.

Naturally I lost a few games. That would have been true no matter what opening I had chosen.

I felt that I had excellent success with it.

My score with the Najdorf against top-ten super-GMs is still 50%.

The Najdorf is very easy to learn.

You just have to know 6.Bg5, 6.Be3, 6.Bc4, 6.Bd3, 6.Be2, 6.Nb3, 6.a4, 6.f3, 6.f4, 6.g3, 6.h3, 6.h4, 6.Rg1, 6.Qf3, 6.Qe2 at move six, plus a few dozen branches after that move.

You played Tal???/ Damnnn. Wait so how do you not have a title?? Also for the question Im around 1000 too and I would say the hyperaccelerated dragon is my favorite but you have to do research on the Marcozy bind (which is when they play 5.c4 ) because I´ve had a lot of trouble with that otb.

In a simul.

I don't have a title because I'm terribly inconsistent. One game I'll play like a Master, and the next game I'll play like a Chimpanzee.
