Bb5+
The Scandinavian defense, and how to play it

3.c4, lets see if u blunder a pawn, lol

yea idea is to have d4 c4 and black has no pawns at center and have to move the knight again or queen. You can go c6 but now is a gambit. As white i play the Caruana variation vs GM Akobian 3.Bb5+ if you block with bishop, bishop goes back to c4 .
If 2.Qxd5 and d4 then ...e5!

Nf6 c4 c6 d4 and you are not playing a Caro Kann again.
3.d4 Nxfd5 4.c4 and White is already better.
If you ask to an actual master of the Scandinavian they will all tell you that Qxd5 is the only move.
Well maybe, but if 2650 GM tries 2...Nf6 vs 2800 rated GM then it might be not so bad for us at least (<2000 amateur).

Except the 2650 GM got severely punished by Caruana for trying to pull such a crap line against him. I used to play the Scandinavian and I can tell you for a fact that Qxd5 is far superior to Nf6 for the reasons that robert stated

"Nf6 c4 c6 d4 and you are not playing a Caro Kann again.

I believe this is what you said?

Right.
There are 78 games in Megabase 2016 with 2...Nf6 where both players were 2500+ Elo and Black scored at least a draw. It's disturbing to think of GMs like Gipslis, Adams, Kamsky and Lalic groping about blindly in the dark without seeking an opinion of an actual master of the Scandinavian first.

The Portugese is like the Smith-Morra: White has the pleasant choice between booking up and having a clear advantage or not booking up and getting a good result out of the opening anyway.

I play the Scandinavian and like 2...QXd5 with the idea of 3. Nc3 Qd6 and trying to get Caro-Kann like formations with Bg4, e6, c6, etc. It's not ambitious but for an almost 60 year old club player its not bad.
I've played scandindinavian for awhile 1 e4 d5 2 exd5 Nf6 3 ? Insert and I'll give u a 3rd move follow up
