Youngsters are not to be spoiled. So first, they must learn that 2.Nc3 is a no-no.

When they finished learning the whole Carlsbad, Meran, Lasker stuff then they give 2.Nc3 a spin

(Also: how come a line named after Jobava+Rapport..... is solid???? it's anything but solid!!! It's QPG's Frankenstein-Dracula).

3..c5 4..cxd4 5..a6 and Black is totally fine.

Sure you keep thinking that bud

This is your score in this line after 1.d4. d5 2. Nc3 Nf6. 3.Bf4 c5 4.e3 cxd4 5.exd4 a6

24 wins, 4 draws, and 31 loses. That is pretty lame playing as White.

Ignore all these garbage openings. Play f3 kf2 . You are going to see your wins increase dramatically.

nope, bongcloud and 1. d4 2. Kd2 is better

thats the london whats the jobavo?????

No, that's not the London.

London:  1.d4 Nf6 2.Nf3 d5 3.Bf4

Jobava:  1.d4 Nf6 2.Nc3 d5 3.Bf4

Barry Attack:  1.d4 Nf6 2.Nf3 g6 3.Nc3 d5 4.Bf4

Veresov:  1.d4 Nf6 2.Nc3 d5 3.Bg5

Notice the differences.  Jobava and London differ by which Knight is developed.  Barry attack features a fianchetto by Black and both Knights developed to the third rank (in the London, they usually go to f3 and d2, not c3).  The Jobava and Veresov differ based on which square the Bishop goes to.

Queens pawn opening: Old Man variation

1.d4 d5 2. Bf4

Jobava is a playable opening, which leads to solid positions for white with lots of tricky ideas. If you score well with it, you should play it.

I score well

Pretty much, but it’s still called the jobava London system by everyone.

Jobava is good

Does not matter what a large groups of noobs call it.  Doesn't make it true.

If 5 million stupid people called you a giraffe, does that make you a giraffe?

If 300 million Americans call it an ATM Machine, does that make it right?  No!  It's not an ATM Machine.  It's an ATM.  If you wanted to spell out machine, it would be an AT Machine, but nobody of course calls it that.  It's an ATM.  (ATM stands for Automatic Teller Machine, and so ATM Machine would be Automatic Teller Machine Machine, which doesn't make sense).

Point being, nobody cares what "lots of people call it".  Facts are facts, and that's what I laid out - THE FACTS!

Truth is, the Jobava Attack and the London System are not the same thing!  Just because a million morons want to call it what it isn't doesn't change the fact.

rychessmaster1

So playing 3. Nc3 suddenly makes it not a London?

GrandMasterNoob21

For those who want to learn about the Jobava: https://gingergm.com/library/jobava-london-system

There is a chessable course too, but I want that as a surprise!

PleasantEscalator

It is a London, or else why would it have London in it’s name? Obviously the openings are both a lot different,

GrandMasterNoob21

It is a Jobava London, enhanced and inspired by Jobava Baadur, a legend in chess.

PleasantEscalator

We must not forget Richard Rappaport, as he is also part of the Jobava London System’s full name.

GrandMasterNoob21
