Changing where we play games

So I'm just reposting this from the 'Looking for Opponents/Games?' thread.

It seems to me that some people on chess.com have grown tired of the way our games fill up the variants forum. From what I've seen there are several choices.

A. We keep it how it is and ignore the people who disagree

B. We use the forum on musketeerchess.net to play our games after we find an opponent. This was suggested by musketeerchess2017 here: https://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess960-chess-variants/a-new-place-to-play-limitless-chess-variant-games

On this thread here: https://www.chess.com/forum/view/suggestions/recommended-new-subforum-chess-variant-games-for-chess-variant-games Evert823 has two ideas:

C. We can play games in the forum of the Bulldog Chess club. I guess it would probably morph into an entire variant club, not just the bulldog club. I guess we could also start a club for infinite chess.

D. I think the best idea would be to convince Chess.com to open a new forum for chess variant games.

I think it's obvious that A is not even a real option. For now we should probably start playing games in the Bulldog Chess Players club forum, or on the musketeerchess.net forum. In my opinion the Bulldog club would be a better place. Thoughts? Comments? Ideas?

Personally my order of preference is D,C,B,A

B. Doesn't work for me cuz I do not use a modern browser AND I use the app. I would love to go with D. That is my favorite!

C or D or A.

D it is then!

It has already been proposed that we get extra space (D) though. It didn’t work. I say C. We have a club for a reason!
Avatar of Waredude
Ok. We will start games there then. We can still finish any ongoing games here though right?

1. A

are people salty that they don't get attention on these forums? Also, variants are for all to joy, only several will stumble upon c/d. Even then, they might not join.

Unless we receive a formal request from a MOD, we should stay

2.D

They might not listen, but we may receive a green light to keep doing games here.

3.C

More chance of seeing this then the trillions of sites on the WWW.

4.B

Seriously?! MAJOR BLUNDER, you hung a bulldog!

I want to keep doing A until it becomes a big problem enough that chess.com must deal with it. So D is the solution I want, but if we try to solve it ourselves with B or C, then it is less likely to happen. The more people complain the more likely D will happen as well.

A is not a problem until chess.com decides it is a problem basically,

Martin0 that is also true.

That is a good point.

We also need to find another place for discussions about that we need to find another place for playing our games.grin.png

I am going to be self promotional heretongue.png I say either C (I did create the club for playing there as well)

or A which is currently working and I haven't seen many complaint's anyway.

I have only ever seen one real complaint.  This is popularizing the variant.  I don't understand how this is a big issue, just seeing extra threads.  They aren't on the 'top threads' list or hot topics.  Only recent comments has them showing.

What we need is to make up our minds! How about we host a vote. Everyone can vote. We could do it like those races in the off topic forum. The voting lasts a week, and when that time is over we count the votes and go with that. Sound good? Oh and any/all votes should be final! No changing you your mind. The voting could go like this;

1.B

2.A

3.C

4.D

1.=4 points
2.=3 points
3.=2points
4.=1point

I vote for A.  It popularizes the variant, and brings in new players.  Besides, I've only ever seen one person who was actually annoyed.
