We should limit how far away a flag can go.
The cool thing about the *Can't move flag holder past an attacked square* rule is that with just 2 strong pieces you can trap the flag holder in a box and *squeeze* them until the box is small enough to make the capture!
... so running won't guarantee your safety! It'd probably just give away your flag holder 
strategic, yet so random and chaotic!
I realized chancellor would be op, lets decide that chancellors (or any piece) whilst holding the flag cannot jump/leap over attacked squares.

Yes, but if queen has the flag and goes to (1,infinity or so) than it will be nearly impossible to real it in and will take a ton of turns because it can also go to (1, negative infinity).
Hmm, let's add a rule then - if the flag holder is trapped in a box (i.e. can't move an infinity in ALL 4 directions) for say... 4 rounds, then that player is considered captured & illuminated!
Prevents having to reel in massive distances, but just keep them trapped until the time runs out!
