New features on Chess.com!

I like the Live Chess idea. I suppose that's still in an early stadium where, if it works at all, it only has few features, but it would be nice to see a new player in the market, other than ICC, PlayChess and FICS.. (No, don't even mention WCL Undecided That's just a crappy version of ICC)

haha, yeah it is a shame chess-live and WCN was bought out by the ICC. They were good chess servers. However, Chess.com will hopefully overtake them all! I know there are many hardworking Chess.com programmers going around the clock to bring the "Live chess" feature to the Chess.com community.  Smile

Unlike WCL, where they spend weeks just to get a new button added to the software, and still, after two months, haven't transferred the payments, memberships and crowns to the new site (My 100 WCN crowns! Vanished!)

I saw your name here before and I knew you'd reply if I added "WCL" to my post Wink It's always good to see other people from WCN/WCL who of course also don't like the new site Cool

It would be nice to see the whole WCL team, with tons of useless and annoying site-admins and many lame programmers, losing a share of the market to these few select people who built this site in just a few months Laughing

Yeah, the Chess.com staff really deserve all the success that the site is having in recent times.  Smile

With so many features (Correspondence Chess, Live Chess, Forums etc.) will Chess.com always remain an ad-less, free site? I can imagine it costs alot of money to cover the webhosting, domain registration, and maybe paying others to actually get the Live Chess to work Wink

we'll make money one day (i hope!)

Chessopedia is working OK for me.

erik
why is chessopedia only working OK?

And from what will that be? Advertisements? Getting paid memberships? Or something else?

erik
not exactly sure yet. probably a mix of premium content (advanced lessons and tools), low-cost subscriptions, and possibly a few tastefully placed ads (possibly).
Howlingbanshee
Well I am not a fan of the new 'premium content' , but i guess you do what you have to do right?
erik
you are not a fan of paying GrandMasters to teach you? that should be free as well?? :)
Thijs

I think I would be prepared to pay a (small Tongue out) fee to access a site like this. As long as that fee is mostly used to either improve the site or cover the expenses (server costs, staff costs etc.). But maybe I won't have to pay a fee here anyway, since I'm not sure what will happen first: this site getting premium content or me getting at least the FM title Smile (No, I'm not being arrogant, just being realistic: I'm 2200 now, and was 2100 a year ago)

Why don’t they post new features in the forums anymore?
ChessieSystem101

be nice if they just went back to the days like this

MachoMango

hey erik, quick question. I can't seem to go any deeper than 1 move on my mistakes. Is this feature no longer available?

DrSpudnik

I remember the site when there was no nannybot to put up a big red banner reminding you of community standards. I hate chess.com so much now. It is nothing but endless petty irritation.

lastplacejunkie

I've got a question about the features. I see people in videos putting circles on the chess board, but I couldn't find how to do that on the /help menu. How do you do that?

Woollysock
Bumping is also a new feature ! 😤

hasn't changed, i got two warnings tonight for trying to talk about my cat, ridiculous
