how about not helping the homeless but giving them the opportunity to help themselves , I once heard of a project in Texas , where the local homeless where offered the opportunity to renovate a building into their living space ,

Alongside concillors helping those with addiction issues , there were skilled workers training them in construction , plumbing , plastering , electrical etc , this saw a big take up and the homeless built their own homes , this while learning a trade , and also tackling alcohol or drug dependency

Texas is not a socialist state either , more conservative

you would be surprised what can be achieved if the desire to change a situation is put in place

that's heartwarming - a real case of teaching a man to fish.

at present those we elect and pay good money in wages , are not addressing the issue in the correct manner ie training , help with addiction issues , making landlords stop with their practice of keeping housing unused

rather they penalize and demonise the victims of homelessness  and ignore their basic needs whilst making laws that create more homeless ,,,this is wrong isn't it , our society can solve this overnight , but our govts listen only to landlords it seems
