Well I do vote in some of the elections up here but I will not vote on the " Good Sport " question. No I'm not going to be a snitch however from time to time I might have to block someone for a while ( like going to the penalty box in the NHL  lol ).

I understand what you saying. Just because somebody ruined your game, you don't want to stand in their way of ruining somebody else's game...

Even if it would only take 10 seconds of your time...

Even if they wouldn't just take your word for it, but would look to see if a lot of people were reporting that player...

Notmtwain: Well I must say that I often enjoy your interesting posts, btw you are not related to the late Don Rickles by any chance are you ? However if you really do want to talk about things being " ruined " around here how about that Very Goofy 3-Post Rule that came into effect recently ? I understand that it is designed to reduce spamming however why does it also block the owner of a thread from their own thread ??? What kind of a clown is spamming threads that they have created themselves ? Just the thought of it is rather goofy IMHO !

What's the "good sport" question?

could you copy a link?

Avatar of badenwurtca

Sorry Doctor but I'm not very good with this computer stuff. However in case you haven't played any Live Chess recently they will ask you at the end of the game if " So & So " was a good sport or not, seems rather odd to me  lol.

Oh, I haven't played live chess for some years. I can't figure why they'd want to stir up more aggravation and pointless accusations.

Well at least 1 thing good came out of it

ding, ding, ding!

hey, notmark, see this? it's not about your condescending comment of someone having to "waste" ten seconds of their time. it's about the fact that it's plain old stupid.

this site is becoming dominated by dumbas$ kids. (the dollar sign is another dumb "improvement") do you think they have a clue what a good sport is? based on the plethora of stupid posts, i don't think so. and, what is being done with this information about how good/bad a member is? and, who's to say that your opinion of hypothetical player X is more accurate than those of baddy or doc?

I guess I just disagree. Badenwurtca thinks it is snitching.

It may help to remove some of the troublesome people from this site. I doubt that they often act on just one complaint. I don't know what their threshold is but I know that they review all these complaints before acting.

It also has the potential to remove or prevent at least some of the libelous posts from being made here.

The new vote for a Good Sport idea is a bit confusing to say the least. Chess.com has some software in place to try to catch those people who disconnect in the middle of a game as well as those who stop moving to let the clock run down ( in my case I like the 30 minute setting in live games ). Also if someone starts talking trash during the game we do have the chat-disable feature. The vote feature seems to be a rather useless idea ( & Thanks for the posts and bumps; I have to sneak that in now so as not to waste a valuable post due the new rules  lol ).

You can post more than three times in a thread, just not three times in a row. Why would anyone want to post three times in a row, anyway?

The other options are to start a new paragraph, as I've done here.

Or after posting and wishing to add something, simple select the Edit icon (the square with a pen in it) and add the new thought.

Too easy and all done in a single post, with two edits . . . wink.png (This smiley is from the second edit.)

---  I've gone thru this all of stuff in several other threads here on this subject and I'm talking about My Own Threads ( ie; threads that I have started and which I'm monitoring ). You may wish to answer several posts that were left by visitors in your threads, that seems quite simple really. What is the point of starting threads if you don't have proper access to the threads that you have started ? It would be quite simple for the bainiacs at this site to modify the policy. However at the same time most people do not need unlimited access to someone else's threads so that part of the policy makes sense but we are talking about two different things here ( for Pete's sake this is not brain surgery people ! ). That is to say the way they set up the new policy is just a matter of having made an error by including the OP of any given thread in the 3-Post rule however they don't want to change things as that would indicate that the brainiacs here are fallible just like other humans. For example do I have to mention all of the crazy stuff that happened when they launched V3 before it was ready ?

Thank God they're only manipulating us and not performing actual brain (salad) surgery!

Very good point. Maybe they figure the more aggravation and accusations, the more revenue. It works in other areas, worth a shot here.

So being aggravating means more money?  I'm still waiting for that to trickle down.

Absolutely. Look at American politics and media. The more obnoxious, aggravating, accusatorial, the more exposure and money. I haven't had any experience with the "good sport" option, but I can see where if it riles people up, that could be good for business. Of course it could be bad too, but it's worth a try.
