This is about the sketchiest thing I've seen short of the people who just come on here selling stuff.

I wouldn't sign up at this raffle site, seems like a horrible idea.

Sorry, you posted in a public forum, if you can't handle public opinion, maybe you should have rethought that decision.

Your raffle is somewhere between gambling and a lottery where I'm sure the expectation value is negative (you wouldn't be making money otherwise), and the only reason it's legal is that you get away on the technecality of not giving away cash prizes, just Amazon gift cards and website memberships.

Your business model is based on people wanting something for (nearly) free and being willing to gamble for it, even if the odds aren't in their favor. I personally wouldn't participate in your raffle. I'm not being a dick, that's a legitimate commentary.

You are so far from wrong it is not even true, since you replied in a public forum I will give you my opinions based on facts and not loosely worded talking points.  There is no wagering of any sort, the very fact you mention gambling is a low blow and probably meant to deter readers of the thread away.  All participants have to do is take a survey, download free software trials, or any number of one and two page signups that take, literally 30-60 seconds of time to complete.  You have time to troll and flame but no time to actually look at what you're talking about?  Come on now, either grow up or get back to work; either way stop lying and trying to scare people off.  Simply put: I want to make a few bucks through affiliate marketing and while doing so I am offering a great return for the favor of participating and helping me out; nothing more, nothing less.

I clicked on the link, your site complained about me using adblock. That's fact number one that puts you in the sketchy category.

You advertised this as a raffle. Now you say it's not a raffle (which would involve a paid entry). That's fact number two that puts you in the sketchy category.

Now you say all I have to do is install software (holy crap, no way, no how am I installing your sketchy software so you can sneak onto my computer), or sign up for a few things. Remind anyone else of adverts on the web for winning a free i-pod or flat screen tv? You have to fill out endless surveys, sign up for who knows what, etc. and then finally, "oh sure, just give us your cell number and we'll send your free gift." Sorry, this stuff is never worth it, nothing is that free. What kind of rube do you think you're going to find on chess.com?

Loomis

The dude called me a dick. And he's trying to make money off the backs of chess.com users personal info.

But thanks for looking out for me checsy-wexy.

I can't believe that you're the one questioning my common sense.

Where do you think the money comes from to pay for the free memberships? Where do you think the money comes from that you're planning to make? It comes from the people you get to click through your site! At some point, one way or another, somebody down the line, one of your "affiliates" will separate the good people who just want a free membership from their money. Otherwise, the whole thing doesn't work.

That's common sense.

At least you admit that your "affiliates" are spammers. Now we're getting somewhere.

They essentially pay for the email address...no secret there but thanks Captain Obvious!  At least you're somewhat basing your statements on fact now I guess....

Agreed. Also, my web filter blocked that site (curiosity), so yeah, it's sketchy.

You couldn't be more naive.
