So many lines that wouldve given me all the initiative.. Especially the 2 minor pieces for a rook. That is something that Id happily trade for.

By the way, I knew that the checkmate was not inevitable. I had set up a best case scenario in conditional moves before I went to sleep. My opponent, who lives in Europe, played into it while I slept!

But I thought that Re7+ followed by h5 would win the queen or the rook if plack played, say, f6. Alas, the queen had an escape square.

Also, wouldn't a queen trade help me as I have the f4 and g4 pawns and the only open file?
