IM SICK OF THIS.

I'm losing. A LOT. I can't take this anymore. Even if I'm in a winning position, I still manage to lose. I've dropped a 100 ELO through this week. I went from 1296 to 1196. I cried. I cried a lot. I almost had a mental breakdown. Nothing helps. I thought chess was supposed to be a fun, challenging game. Now I just can't enjoy it anymore after having a 15 game losing streak. I'm planning on quitting. All of my classmates have already done it, and I'm the only one who still cares about this game. I don't think it will last long if I keep up losing. I analyze my games, do puzzles but still, nothing helps. I have a diamond membership for this game, so I'd consider it a waste of money by far. Please. I'm not going to do this if it's harming my mental health. Just...please. Help me

It looks like you’re only playing 10 minute games.
Unfortunately, this time control is really only a test of your intuition, not your true calculation or evaluation skills. In other words, when you win or lose in this time control it’s not an accurate measure of your true tactical or strategic strength.

Play longer games, like 15/10 or even better, 30:00. This will allow you to take your time and truly see what’s going on in a position. Then, analyze those games without an engine before hitting the Game Review button.

This will feel slower in the moment, but you will build playing strength and gain rating much faster in the long run, and your games will feel more meaningful and memorable.

Maybe ur are in one of those special pools the mod talked about the other day

"There's no crying in chess." Jimmy Dugan. Seriously, maybe take a break from chess for a couple of days

If you are feeling too pressurized take a break. Or else just continue playing. Rating dips are pretty common. From 9th June to 15th June you had what was called a rating dip. You went from 1135 to 1044. But then by 25th June you were back at 1150s again. From 2nd to 9th August you had yet another rating dip, But you regained your rating again. It is the same thing that is happening here, but it is a large rating dip. You will be back up soon again happy.png.

Continue to analyze your games, especially the ones you lost. Try to identify patterns in your mistakes and learn from them. You might want to consider seeking feedback from stronger players as well.

If it helps, think of your rating as an average of your performance. On any given day, you are capable of performing up to 200 points worse or better than your nominal rating. When you think in these terms, 8 points doesn’t seem so bad when you lose :)

Quit and move on. Be happy.

Play less games per day to keep your mental game strong

It's good that most of ur games are rapid. That helps. I'd suggest trying to slow down those time controls even more, not a lot, just add maybe 50% to whatever time controls ur playing now. BUT... pick 2 game days per week, maybe only saturday & sunday, & play a single game (no more than 2) on each of those days. U won't get burned out & tilt. Ur gonna be more motivated to play well because those r the only 2 games u can play all week. Try that for a while & see how it goes.

You see the fun about chess is losing u must learn to love to lose in order to become better.

and thats not just about chess it's anything in life.

learn to embrace losing your going through a rating loss everyone does.

don't think you're not going to lose games because u are going to lose way more games than just this but

it's beautiful don't u think losing and learning from your mistakes (:

I'm sorry to hear that; I know the pain. You can read about one rating drop I remember well here and how I handled it: https://www.chess.com/blog/KeSetoKaiba/dropped-more-chess-rating

This was about exactly one month later: https://www.chess.com/blog/KeSetoKaiba/today-is-the-day-2000-rapid

Know that rating changes a ton naturally and if these changes are too much to handle, then you need to find healthy ways of addressing this; namely the stop-loss system I mention here might help you happy.png

I suggest you should keep playing and learning. The website has holes in for cheating you can help that. The website also add the computer help for in game play. You are playing people who are using the computer to help them. It can be frustrating

Hello everyone. As many of you suggested, I'm going to take a break for a few months from chess. Thank you for your help and support. Appreciate you guys 🫶 (I really didn't think this would get so many replies thank you)

You can quit chess temporarily, but don't quit doing puzzles. It's rather fun, and at least you won't get mad easily. Suggestive websites would be LiChess, chesspuzzles.net if you don't have premium.

Reaskali

But u do, so might as well make full use of it.
