It may not happen this tournament but from what I've seen, Pragg will be playing for a WC. His prep seems very strong and he's willing to go for it. Despite not being the leader, he has impressed me the most so far. I'd buy Pragg stock if I could. I also think with the prep he has shown for this tourney, a WC match would suit him.

I don’t think he’s gonna win the candidates this year, but I agree with you. Him, Gukesh, Abdusatorav, Arjun, Sindarov, Keymer, and even more young guys I’m forgetting, will have a good shot at being future wcc’s

Keymer's support ecosystem is not the best. I think he's now sponsored by Jan Buettner, the guy who did the 960 event which helps a bit. The support for top talent from the German federation is pretty bad which may be surprising to some given that the Bundesliga attracts all the strong players etc

For me, Abdusatorav is the strongest "young gun" and my current favorite player.

Looking forward to Nepo-Gukesh tonight, I hope Gukesh doesn't try to push too hard and stays disciplined. Pragg-Vidit is also a great matchup and I'm curious what Alireza has cooked up for Fabi who is probably psychologically down a bit now (this game has fireworks potential). Hikaro might feel he has a must win game but Abasov has shown that he can hold quite well imo (the game he blundered away against Fabi was also played really well until that point).

If either Nepo or Gukesh wins today , the tournament would be 99.9% decided

Rounds 11 & 12 are tomorrow & Thursday then the last rest day on Friday. Last 2 rounds are Saturday & Sunday. With all these players crowded together within 1 point of each other........

I still think Ian’s gonna win it, but I hope it’s an interesting final four rounds!

DreamscapeHorizons

Ian just won. He now has sole lead with 7 out of 11. 2 whites games coming up.

Looks good for Nepo!

Yeah man what a tournament

ricorat

This is only the 3rd candidates I’ve watched, but out of all three this is by far the most exciting imo

kjz30

top 4 facing each other in the last round - could not have scripted it better happy

Gukesh seems to have some really good chances . (I could be biased) .

In the 13th round he is playing Alireza with the white pieces . A perfect opportunity to score another point and perhaps redeem himself from that heartbreaking loss a few rounds ago .

Meanwhile the other two leaders Nepo and Hikaru face each other .

So assuming that Gukesh wins against Alireza , he will be the sole leader if Nepo and Naka draw their game . In case either of them wins , there will be a two way tie instead of 3 .

Gukesh has a good chance and I support him

It's gettin interestinger & interestinger.

Exchange French's? I thought players are trying to win with White. Sure Nakamura won twice with the exchange French but it was against two opponents who are struggling in the tournament. Let's try 3. Nc3 and make it interesting.
