Chess.com infringes upon freedom of speech!
Well, I'd say it's not a matter of free speech, but rather that people aren't sure what the rules of the chat game are.
You do not have the right to free speech on chess.com. This is a common misconception about where your "right to free speech" exists. Your national government does not have the right to limit your speech (outside of a few exceptions), but that does not mean other organizations, especially ones you joined and agreed to terms with in the process, cannot limit your speech to remain a member with all privileges.
Hope that helps.
You better watch out buddy, or you'll be going to H, E, double hockey sticks. I think the standards in LIVE chess are different than the forums. In the forums, you actually have to say it. In live chess, you just have to imply it.
I know this subject has been discussed before but Chess.com is getting on my nerves. I called a player a P*ssycat (all one word) and got a warning that my account will be suspended for another offense. It did not occur to me that the word p*ssycat would get flamed by Chess.com. So where does it end? This is a very slippery slope especially with so many languages spoken and posted on Chess.com. Perhaps I will go to another site that is not so paranoid and ultra conservative. What other everyday and inoffensive words does Chess.com ban? Perhpas they could make the list public so we know what to say and what not to say.
They did it because they know what you intended. Understand what context is?
My question is: why say anything?
I simply can believe so many people (I'm talking about great many members on here) are so psychologically and emotionally unbalanced that they get angry when they lose a game, or feel overly empowered by winning and let loose with insults. The sorts of things I see on the here and on the internet, in general, make me begin to think that humanity is an illness, per se, or that give me ought to move towards misanthrope, at the very least.
Anyway, I hope calling someone a p*ss&cat did for you, emotionally and psychologically, what you wanted it to do.
I don't know that I would consider "pussycat" a word worth getting all bent out of shape over. When I was a kid it was a word that the "over thirty" generation used. I'm sorry, but I think I'm missing something here.
Lets be honest here this is a family site. Certain speech shouldn't be used here. In addition it may be because they dont want the I anteriors sued
