You should not only play, you should also analyse your lost games.

No. Set goals: E.G.: I want to solve 10 puzzles correctly and win two games.

I do not think playing time has that much to say. I myself have played at least two hours every day for several years, but have developed very little. Notices that the rating can fluctuate a lot from week to week, but I care less now about the rating than I did before. I only play because I think it's fun, I'm not chasing anything anymore. Been a little indifferent, really think I was a better player before.

The secret to improvement is studying and analyzing.

Playing is great to practice what you've learned, but real improvement comes from study.

So I recommend spending at least half of those 3 daily hours studying, if you're serious about getting stronger.

Playing is studying - you begin to see patterns just by playing....of course analyzing your games helps....but yes, the more you play, the better you should get. I know that's true me at least...I don't study anything other than my own games, and have been improving on average 100 points a month...playing a couple hours a day about

You also need to sleep on chess set bedding so you can dream chess positions better.

Just by playing?

No.

Avatar of jm9966

in my words, playing is to measure your strength and what level of tactics/books you should do or study.

3 hours a day of speed chess will do one thing.  Instill and reinforce bad habits.  OK that was two things

Avatar of PinkFluffyPuppydog28

No, better analyze and study your games.

If you have lot of fun during those 3 hours, then a big yes. The only important thing here for 99.9% of us is just having fun, we are not and never will be pro players, and it's ok.
