Scandinavian is great.

You should try what feels good to you, aside from theory and the sharpest continuation, sometimes a better move is known as a waiting move.
of course tiviakov plays it, but he is a GM,and I'm talking about you and me,and all the patzers pushing virtual wood here... :ppppppp
I really like playing against the Scandinavian. White gets a decent plus in the form of better development and extra space, and although Black's position is solid, that's about all it is. Unlike in the Caro-Kann, White hasn't advanced his pawn to h5, and it's hard to see Black completing development and executing ... c5 quite as easily as White can break d4-d5. Basically, maybe Black can equalize, but not much more.
Smerdon's new book on the variations after 2 Nf6 is fantastic and will no doubt make this even more popular
Well not really, there is no simple way to play scandinavian, white happens to have a too much initiative to equalize easily, here is another recent one failure of the undersigned,

The Scandi is semi popular due to the trappy 2..Nf6 lines also the 2..Qxd5 lines are quite easy to learn that you can play them on auto pilot. I don't know how good it is to play but in my blitz games on Chess.Com I find 1..d5 in responce to 1.e4 to be more popular than 1..e5. Where as years ago 1..d5 was quite rare. Strange that 1..d5 not finding its way in top >2750 level GM games.
errr,how can we define a 'non-respectable-player'? :P
These are non-respectable players, somebody should inform them.

And now, you post a Caro Kann (where you blunder as early as move six) to prove that the Scandinavian is flawed...
I'm afraid that your logic is way too advanced for me to follow it.
The scandinavian is so popular because it is one of the few openings where black gets to dictate the play from the beginning. It was much maligned for many years, but it is very playable.
One of the bogus objections was that black lost a tempi by moving his queen in response to the Knight taking the pawn.
1. e4 d5 2. exd5 Qxd5 3. Nc3 Qa5.
What is missed is that white spend a tempi capturing black's pawn in the first place on the 2nd move. so if you look at the total tempi count, it is the same after three moves.
Another objection was that black should not be so quick to bring his queen out. This is nearly uiversally true and accurate in most positions.
However, it turns out in the Scandi that black has a number of perfectly reasonable squares to post his queen without too much fear of attacks on his queen.
It is a good defense to use, at least as a 2nd chair defense to mix it up a bit.
I have used it to good effect for years.
Funny, I read the same thing in Tarrasch. Nonetheless, when I see the Scandinavian, I know that I will get a comfortable middle game with no problems. The French vexes me (when I'm White) and the Sicilian means a fight that could go either way. Against the Scandinavian, my risks decrease.
"... While there can be no doubt about the opening's playability, it seems unlikely to become as popular as the main defences to 1 e4 since White has a relatively easy time getting an edge. ..." - IM Sam Collins (2005)

So, let's suppose the GM is wrong and the IM right.
- HOW white gets an edge?
- HOW white should play to make his XYZ edge felt?
(inspiration of the holy spirit does not count as an answer).
Don't ask ylblai2 questions about chess. He is unable to answer.
You should avoid personal attacks. Ylblai2 is a formidable C Class player OTB and a good resource on these forums for chess book reviews. You may not care for his forum style, but others find his posts interesting.
I have played him OTB and know him IRL. Here is our most recent game.
In response to the OP's question, I agree with Tomex's comment that John Bartholomew's YouTube channel is a big reason for why the opening is becoming more popular suddenly.
@jengaias It can when the YouTube poster is popular (over 15k subscribers), likable, routinely gets thousands of views on his videos, and has specifically created a subculture of #teamScandi and is actively promoting and teaching the opening on chessable and in his videos.
Chessable is a website started by John Bartholomew to practice openings interactively. Probably you can do other stuff on there too. Anyway it's no biggie I'm just saying that, if you see how popular his channel is and how much the Scandi is discussed in his vids, it's reasonable to assume that more people will start playing it.
I'm old enough to remember when the "Scandinavian" was called "The Centre Counter" !
Me too.
