How do you move to strategy from tactics?

Im admire you Hluek, self mastery is a very difficult thing to do.  I tried that but often times failed. Discipline is so hard to attain.  To control your urge seem unsustainable unless you are a saint.

hleuk2

It is not completely possible I hear. But we make in-roads...a bit more each time we try many times.

We think about incidents more as we grow older and handle similar ones differently.

This guy divides into biological impulses and reasoned advancement, for self-discipline.

The budhist path to dealing with suffering is to believe you dont exist.

There are profound lessons taught in some schools I hear:

dealing with enemies:

thanks for the above material Hluek. there was once a budhist who bacame ill. In the brink of death, he dreamed about hell and he saw budha and other monks suffered in agony. When he recovered he changed to christianity. this is a true story.

Only Christ resurrected from the dead with many witnesses. Only He claimed to be the way, the truth and the life. Archeological findings even proove that Christ really existed. All apostles died martyr just to spread the gospel. Anyone who is willing to die for something knows what truth is that he is willing to let go of life.

therefore I believe Jesus.

It;s good you have beleif armhow. I dont try to conbvert you. Christianity is a good and useful path.

I like to study all wise men.

Changes are coming in technology that will sazzle things like the internet and space travel

When I was a kid i watched tennis pros pracitcing the same shot thousands of times, day after day.

It looked mad.

armhow

It's really hard to hit the ball and control the direction you want it to be in tennis. Tennis requires a repetitive practice in hitting the right way. To watch professionals play seem easy but when you are the one playing it is quite hard. A very tiresome game.

hleuk2

True, but I think eye to hard coordination is similar to autoresponse in chess.

Offten I'm thrown by not seeing a clever trick.

Training that checks every piece on the board (then every possible next opponent move...which can only be with one of 16 pieces at most...can be built instinctively.

Also if you're exploring possiblilities and training this instict, it is ery different cfrom sysetmatic calculation (the correct way I guess)

Not many expect this move:

I too often times a victim of this Hluek. Your instincts often times make you blunder your game.  There is a principle in containing such error. That is by looking at the total picture of the board after your opponent's move. Here we can apply Morphy's tactic. A tactical move that inhibits your opponent to develop their minor pieces thereby you control the board. Quite difficult cause you have to calculate the possibility of their next move.

The first one to develop all his pieces eventually has a bigger chance of winning. Pinning, disrupting the other from castling, gaining more space and attacking the defense of your adversary king could be an exciting game for you to win.

hleuk2

>>>>The first one to develop all his pieces eventually has a bigger chance of winning.<<<<

I sort pf beleive that.

But I'm testing blitzkreig @ present, sacrificing bishop or knight for position.

There are many calculations.

Chess is a great phsychological discipline. It took me 3 years to stop making obvious blunders

I think the multiverse is data and that can be manipulated recursively.

Maybe try a little study time for the royal game.  Then your rating won't be 1000. Duh?

hleuk2

I study my own way and my rating is not the issue. if you look at my games I have beaten people double that

armhow

hi hluek, what does your abstract mean. I kept playing chess when drunk and discovered I lost a lot of games. Huh! seems playing normal gets boring.

hleuk2

One abstracts from one image to another. From one concept to a symbol. From a reality to a symbolic.

eg 3+3 =6

is an abstraction of number.

Mathematics has been abstracted from the real world.

The difficty is checking for effors when calculating, so we need to do physical experiments in the 'real' world to confirm our mathematics.

Drunk ? I dont recommend it. I used to get drunk! Now I dont touch alcohol.

Maybe you should get married armhow!

armhow

Well, one thing I know hluek, numbers don't lie. Math principles are absolute. It is the truth. No matter what you abstract from it, the answer will always be true.

zborg

Time to read a bit of Godel, methinks.

His Incompleteness Theorem is more than 80 years old.

armhow

Hi Hluek. it seems zborg is an avid fan of yours. Lol! by the way I am a married guy for 35 years. My kids are all professionals. My wife and I are just enjoying our retirement age with good business and pleasure. What a good life you will enjoy when you trust Christ. There is peace, joy, security and clear path of where your destination will be.

zborg

Amen to that.  Praise the Lord, and shimmering spider webs, too.  Laughing

armhow

Thanks again zborg. By the way judo is not effective now a days. It is some what obsolete. The new martial art now is juboxkarwres.  It is a combination of different defense art. You have to have a good discipline in attaining a belt on this endeavor.

The best defense is to flee trouble when you sense it. Zun Tsu principle I guess. But none can beat a .45 1911 semi auto pistol, no art can face it. Guess pistols are obsolete too. It requires a lot of practice to hit a target. Even at 10 meters distance, a novice can't heat a target.

Kudos mi amigo.

zborg

With Judo, a Ruger Security Six, and 12 years of Roman Catholic education, I  feel reasonably secure.

Overall, the most dangerous activity is probably driving on highways.  Smile

In the West, we typically read B.H. Little Hart.  Zun Tsu is fine as well.

Best Wishes.
