I want to play a chess variant with no King, or where the King is just another piece and object is just to have the last piece standing...is there one?

Suicide chess

ultimate freedom chess...no move is 100% forced with no King, and you don't have to worry about it being retarded like mine is...just use your chess knowledge to take all the pieces...would be fun for a change I think...I'm trying to get my software engineering student son interested in making it, but it is not working...even thought of a name "Smess".

I've heard of something called "horde."

"for the horde"...oh...that was a different game.

Horde is like 30 pawns vs a regular army or some such? With kings though I think.

This is horde.

There are supposed to be pawns on the first rank but it didn't let me do it.

yeah, I like it....how old are you young man? ....I am 63....I like the horde too....think I would prefer the pawn side, go figure.

This chess game (Seige of Dros Delnoch) doesn't have a king, but one side has an Ulric which is similar to a King. You can also move three pieces on each move. It's based on Legend (the fantasy book Novel).

I think it is interesting, but not sure how to go about playing it.....what early, middle and late moves are best, etc..if I was black I may want to get some pawns going early but try not to lose too many....if I was white, try to weaken the pieces around the King maybe???

Yes, I know. I guess it's like playing chess before anyone really studied it. There is no way to know the best strategy. Computers won't help either. (and there's no concern about anyone cheating).happy.png

I found a variant called Hexapawn, It's a chess variant that's 3x3 and with three pawns on the bottom rank.
