Isometric (Live) vs From Above (Online)

What you described is common. Some players have the opposite problem...they've played OTB games their whole life, then they start playing online and can't see things that would be obvious to them on a physical board.
The solution is to get accustomed to both modes of play. When you practice online, for some games use a physical board to replicate what is happening on the screen, and only look at the physical board when figuring out your next move.
Hi,
I play chess as an autodidact for a few years only online. Max in Rapid I had 1550, in Blitz 1350, in exercises about 2500. Recently I played games on the chessboard live. I saw absolutely nothing, not even that someone's pawn is hanging, or that, for example, I have a rook hanging at the other end of the chessboard. Generally zero recognition of automatic patterns that I recognize online. Is it normal for there to be such a gap as you are unaccustomed to the live isometric view? What experiences do you have? How fast can it be fixed by playing live?
Thanks in advance and regards
