Chess requires a purity of purpose, reason, and thinking to achieve the singular goal of success. There is an ineffable beauty surrounding the competition of ideas that take place at the chessboard.

It's a wonderful combination of calculation, imagination and creation ... artistic and scientific elements ... just like music! (And yes: We musicians can blunder horribly as well!) 
I do not know why I play or even if I like chess really. I just started a forum topic myself about it. I really do not want to quit playing.
