Chess.com should consider the following:-

1. They should make chat box bigger in live chess.

2. They should prevent players with multiple accounts.

3. Regarding giving advice in forums esp. related to chess to prevent weak players giving their wrong advice its harmful for others learning.

4.To have certain code of conduct during and after the game.

5. To remove ads once and for all.

16. Chess.com arbitrarily determines which direction the knights face. I would like to determine their direction depending on circumstance.

17. I think chess.com should take a stronger position against prayer and ESP during games.

Seriously, ads is a pain in the ashFoot in mouth,

Also, the chat box is too small when Somebody send me important message, it couldn't be read,

In short is chess.com really have to...

Lets avoid fun my thread is a serious business!

Getting rid of Ads is easy, I pay $30 a year and all the ads disappear! Do people really chat in Live Chess, isn't it harmful to the chess? I hate chat in OTB. Chess.com uses lots of  energy and resources to catch people with multiple accounts. Finally, lets avoid fun at all costs.

1. Shouldn't a person be spending time analyzing the board and planning his or her next move? Chat would seem like a distraction from that.

2. I do believe that is a violation of the rules. If you suspect someone of having multiple accounts, you should report them. It's as simple as that.

3. It's a self-correcting system as it is. Someone with better advice will point out the mistakes and no problem. The mistake maker will probably think twice about posting without knowing next time.

4. You might have to be more specific on this one.

5. Let me get this straight. You want the owner of the website to pay for servers, bandwidth, webdesign, upkeep, etc., etc. out of his own pocket because you don't want to see ads. That stuff costs money. Umm... yeah, I'm sure he'll get right on that. Psst... I think there's an option to not see ads. It's called upgrading your account. ;)

erik

1. you can zoom your browser.

2. we can only do so much to discourage multiple accounts. it's impossible to prevent entirely.

3. we can't police every single comment for chess accuracy. tell you what though - if you write the software that can do that, send me a message ;)

4. again, we can't police everyone's behavior. we do have a code of conduct: http://www.chess.com/legal.html#rules

5. you can remove ads: www.chess.com/membership.html . it costs about the same as one meal per month. if you aren't willing to pay with $ or with your eyeballs, then how would you pay for a service you receive?

I can understand the need for ads to help pay for the site.  The only ad I have a problem with is the pop up ad at the bottom of the screen, and even then I only have a problem with it on the iPad.  On the iPad it doesn't stay at the bottom of the screen.  It floats up as you scroll down and blocks part of the page.  If you want to see the entire page, you have to close the ad.

edit:  I just noticed that pop up ad only appears when cookies aren't turned on, so it's actually even less of a problem than I thought.

20. Chess.com needs customizable victory celebrations.  You would write to Erik what you want yours to be and he would make it happen for free and without ads.  And you could have as many celebrations as you could think of from the king throwing a party with all the remaining pieces to dancing hermit crabs at the White House.

21. Chess.com also needs customizable defeat celebrations that activate when you resign.  It would be tricky to decide how both the loser and the winner would show their things but as long as the defeat thing was only for a couple seconds I think it would be all right.  Mine would be the king jumping off the edge of the board to avoid capture at all costs while the pawns pledge their allegiance to the victor.

22.All profits of chess.com should go to me.

23. I should be better at chess than everyone else.

winerkleiner

oinquarki is that cute little girl Erik's?

If so she should be voted Princess of Chess.com!

This shows you how to resize

move your mouse cursor between main chat and game chat slowly. Watch your mouse cursor till it looks like this a double pointed arrow

once it does, drag that faint blue line downward, it makes the game chat area bigger then so you're able to see whats posted in game chat.

You can also do this between chat and the board to enlarge the board area.
