A lot of threads have been talking about abusing disconnection. A simple splution to this is to simply count disconnection as a forfeit. Thoughts?

It is counted as a forfeit. You win if your opponent abandons the game.

I thought that if you reconnect in time, the game will continue.

Sure, if you reconnect in time, but if you just stay disconnected it will say "Game abandoned" and of course the one who disconnects loses.

That is apparently where the abuse comes in. An easy solution would be if you disconnect, you lose, regardless of whether or not you reconnect.

When I play, it disconnects over, and over because the computer's screwed up I guess.

ICC has a setting for "forfeit on disconnect" and to only accept challenges from those who have the same setting.

A question... you know the flag next to your clock which says how your connection is doing? What does it mean when it is blinking?

I've never disconnected on purpose but the chess.com system has disconnected me often.  When the system disconnects me I wait for it to reconnect and go on playing.  I wouldn't want a disconnect out of my control to cause me a forfeit.  What does chess.com admin have to say about the frequent disconnects? When that little flag is red your connection is not solid and blinking seems to mean the connection is in jepoardy, only a guess.  Laughing
