Solved em' both

IN ONE GO

SmyslovFan

Please post your mate in three for that first one. I still don't see the mate in three.

GameTheoryOptimal

Solve the 2nd real quick. I was slower with the first.

The 1st one took me about one minute. I knew it should have queen sacrifice somewhere. And it was 3 moves, Nf5, Qg6 and Rh3. Maybe the 4th move was removing the king off the board!!! The 2nd puzzle took me seconds...

SmyslovFan

Alain, 3.Rh3 is check, not mate.

How on earth could anyone solve the first one? It was a mate in FOUR, not a mate in three.

Actually (as somebody has already pointed out) it's a mate in 5.

Of course it's impossible to solve that puzzle as a mate in three. Anyone who said they got it easily is fibbing. Or they can't count to three.

Oh my god, if only it had said MATE IN FOUR then I would so totally have solved it in .02 seconds, but because it says mate in THREE I my mind was completely blown and I could figure out anything AT ALL!1!@ That's the ONLY reason it took me so long I swear

SmyslovFan you're absolutely right. I just looked it again and I saw after Rh3+ that black can cover the check by Nh6 and, after it's mate with Rxh6#. Another thing that I overlooked with the 2D view (screen view) With a 3D (real board) I would surely noticed that. Thanks for the post!

sajay

my friend just found that it is actaully mate in 5!!

Read the topic? Whatever will you expect next, BQ? Laughing

Actually, it was mentioned 3 times (including by me)...and only 1 used an engine.

It didn't bother me even when I was doing the problem, why does it still bother you a month after the fact?

AndyClifton

And for the last time...it's a mate in 5!!!!!

Grrrrr.

CHCL

First one no problem at all.

Second one: Really?

Not very hard, but nice puzzles.

the first example is not M3, the knight can still block the rook and delay 1 move more
