A forum where we discuss our favorite christian music artists and their albums and specs and stuff please keep it clean and no  big put-downs on them okay? I'll start, I like DCtalk, tobymac, Hawk Nelson, and Relient K, alongwith others.

"I personally would much rather NOT see discussions of things that tend to create bad feelings on this site. Those topics are RELIGION and POLITICS. There are plenty of places on the web to discuss those subjects, but I don't feel Chess.com is that place."

We're not discussing religion in this topic.  We're discussing musician's who happen to be.  There is a huge religious debate going on elsewhere on this site, though.

Okay, first of all, off topic topics ? If its off topic, then you can talk about pretty muchanything  you want, as long as its not evil or something. And im not going to start discriminating against other people. They are humans as we are. Th ey don't have to look at this forum.

Who is Pedro the lion?

Pedro the Lion is an amazing indie rock artist.  I highly recommend the album Control.  It's both musically and lyrically superb.

I have found that when chess and religion get tangled up, it can cause big problems. Last week one of my bishops wanted to convert to Judaism and become a rabbi, and then the other bishop -- who was still a devote Christian -- became embroiled with the knight next to him who had jointed the Knights Templars, a heretical order. My queen turned out to be a cross dresser, which was upsetting to some of the more conservative pieces and I had pawns who had joined a pacifist group and refused to fight.

I like christian rock type and contemporary groups. Why does it seem like as soon as people start a forum talking abut Christian music or something like that, other people have objections. Christian chess players  give credit to God for their accomplishments usually and pray before a chess game. "Religion" and  chess go quite well together, I have found. Anyway, i  am pretty sure everyone's heard of dctalk, so Hawk Nelson is a punk/pop type rock band, Switchfoot is another one, they are a regular type rock group. All of them do slower music which would probably fit into the contemporary genre.

Relient K was a christian band? Weird. By the way, a Relient K was my first car. It blew up.

Jesus Freak was one of the first songs I learned on guitar, and I still know every word.

This comment made my day!

King William and Alex, you guys need to relax about this thread.  Christian music is just a genre, but in the end it's music, not religion!

If this was a thread about Christmas carols, would you guys still have decided to post how it's not allowed?  If you honestly have bad feelings towards a bunch of individuals who happen to be discussing their favorite artists, who so happen to be Christian and "grouped" into the category "Christian Music", I feel like you should take it up with Erik.

Anyways, I like Hawk Nelson, Relient K, Sanctus Real, Falling Up, Merideth Andrews, Drew Cline, Toby Mac, etc.

It's nice listening to music without profanity and with positive messages.

I like falling up, too, hopefully everyone is now "okay" with this forum. We aren't attempting to ignite a heated debate about the deity of Christ or something, we who are Christians accept that as fact. We are simply discussing our favorite bands and such, we may comment that they are serving God with their music or if they have a good missions work if they have a mission or something like that, but we aren't going to use this forum for the purpose of attacking other people's morals or anything.

Attacking other people's morals is one matter but seriously CHRISTIAN music is RELIGIOUS music. It is the same as a prayer or a hymn as it is just another form of expressing one's RELIGIOUS views. So why not post "What are your favourite religious artists"?' and get everyone involved.Specifying only CHRISTIAN music may offed some people in a passive way, simply because they may feel left out. I know someone could just as easily post another topic, "What is your favourite Islamic artist" or such but religion should be universal and thus any discussion involving religion in any form should be considerate enough to include all and any denominations. Praise be to Jah!

Well Dooks, I'm Jewish and not all that offended.

My favorite Christian artists include: Chris Tomlin, Third Day, Matt Redman, Michael W. Smith, Flyleaf, Bebo Norman, Lincoln Brewster, Mercy Me, Casting Crowns, Salvador, Todd Agnew...that's all I can think of right now. Selah, some Hillsong United, too.

By that very argument, we should recognize the beliefs of atheists and agnostics.  Now we are once again talking about all music.  I see nothing wrong with singling out one specific type of music(christian rock) for discussion.  It seems to me that some people let their moderation overrule practical considerations.  I'm not a Christian - not by a long shot - but the exclusion of the other religions, or lack thereof, is completely called for here.
