can we all calm down a bit? everybody is getting worked up and we can just settle it nicely. I agree that some people are sad that hes leaving, but its a chess site, not facebook. if you want to stay in touch you should have asked for his email or something. im fine if people are sad, but some people are over the top that doesn't need to be shared.

I think that the people that are really worked up about it need to calm down, but that's no reason to be insensitive to them. Also, comment 165? Really? Trying to stir up a thread for laughs isn't great, especially since some people are actually sad over it.
if someone says something neutral without meaning any harm, and it unexpectedly hurts someone, then it wouldn't be their fault for hurting someone, but they might want to apologize.

I would understand your view, and I understand what you meant by that, but even if you weren't trying to be insensitive, you weren't trying not to be insensitive. They are different things, one is passive: "I won't try to be insensitive, but i might accidentally end up being insensitive," and one is active: "I'm going to try to not be insensitive."
