One thing that some car fans might not be aware of is the fact that some older Rolls Royce cars ( or Bentleys ) are being used in " Banger Races ", ie Demolition Derbys in the UK. Quite sad and a bit goofy as well because these cars still have some value as parts vehicles if nothing else.
I once had a Borgward !
People who are true car-fans should take a look at " Jay Leno's Garage " which is shown over on YouTube. Leno has a huge collection of cars some of which go back to a time before before the first World War. He has very wide range of cars also including some recently built machines.

that show does show some great vehicles, but, the fact i cannot afford them is why i do not watch.
after a recent visit to a golf course, i saw a '55 corvette that was to be taken to a place where it would be fixed.
some of us have worked on vehicles, and, i was taken that the owner of this pristine vehicle preferred to have others take care of it.
if i owned a '55 'vette, few would be allowed to touch it.
Thanks for the post AlCzervik. I just enjoy seeing restored cars, or any number of other mechanical items.
Btw another good show on cars is " My Cassic Car TV " with Dennis Gage. Leno is often a guest on this program.
Just saw a rather odd item over on YouTube. Dorbirn, Austria is the home of the largest Rolls Royce Museum in the world. The car collection mainly covers cars made before World War II and of course includes some Bentleys as well.
Going back into the mid-1950's one of the cutest small cars sold in North America was the Nash Metropolitan. Interestingly the motor and gearbox for these cars came from Austin in the UK. The bodies were made by Nash with their unique styling and final assembly was done in the USA. These little gems have become very popular collector items and there are now car-shows that cater exclusively to the Metropolitans.
I must say I'm a bit surprised that nobody remembers those cute little Nash Metropolitan cars. I guess that I'm getting older as I can remember when those little " puddle-jumpers " were still in everyday service.
Before this thread fades from my memory I want to mention the Messerschmitt KR 200. Yes this was a 3 wheeler and was in the " Bubble Car " group ( aka: Micro Cars ). Power came from a single cylinder motor of 200 cc capacity, a 2 stroke air-cooled design. As a young lad I got to ride around in one of these machines back in the 1950's.
One way to tell that you are getting older: You once longed to own a Delorean ! ( Like the one used in the " Back To The Future " movies ).

--- Yup some people just make me green with envy, for example Jay Leno and all of those nice cars of his. However in the UK we find a fellow who must make even Leno rather jealous. Yup an 80 year old business-tycoon named Rodger Dudding owns 400 cars. Just the thought of all of those machines makes me dizzy lol.
PS: I just looked up Rodger Dudding over on YouTube and I found a couple of videos up there featuring his collection ( at Studio 434 ).
what??
ofdumbkind, you know nothing about vehicles.
bmw, mb, porsche. just three you may have heard of if you are above age ten.
lol
Well here we are in July of 2018 and we might remember that 20 years ago this month BMW took over ( rescued ? ) the Rolls Royce Company. Mind you I must say that I was rather surprised that nobody from the UK brought that name back under British ownership.
It’s just such a good looking car .
--- Yes the Karmann Ghia was a cute little machine, not too powerful tho as the motor was just a regular VW Beetle motor.
--- Yes the Silver Ghost model ( introduced in 1906 ) put Rolls on the map. Indeed that model was so solid and reliable that the chassis was used as the base for a armoured-car, not bad lol.
Someone has a thread on the go here about getting a new Rolls. Well Rolls-Royce cars are getting to be very commonplace, but ask yourself how many Borgwards have you seen driving around lol.
--- Twice in my life I've thought about buying a 2cnd-hand Rolls. Back around 1976 I spotted this poor old Bentley sedan ( 1955 model ? ) all sad and forlorn sitting in a local used-car lot ( yes it was a Bentley, identical except for the grille ). In the end I passed on that one and I found out later that a local politician bought and restored the old girl, happy ending.
