Why is it called KOTL (King Of The Hill) ?

King of the Ladder. I think it’s called that because there is a ladder ( leaderboard ) and people have to be on top of the ladder ( king ). Normally you could ask @HorribleTomato, the inventor of KOTL, but he was not active for a whole year.
