Thank you, Sred

Though my list is not very useful if you seek new exciting unknown stuff.

I never heard of Schutz or Monteverdi, so thank you

@electricpawn: Thank you for the list!

@Vivinski: Thank you for the list and that haunting music from Miserere

Idk if you're familiar with carlo gesualdo's background story. It's an amusing wiki read and explains the 'haunting' music

Then you definitely should give them a try - they practically started the baroque era (most credits go to Monteverdi, though I find Schütz more fascinating).

I've long suspected that if I had to be stuck listening to just one chess.commie's musical library, that I would choose yours.

It would have been a wise choice.  I'd miss Woody, Cisco, and Leadbelly though.

Not to mention Lightnin', Missississi Fred, and Furry Lewis.

Funny...I was looking forward to your list. I just did representatives of our first love, the Blues (finger-pickin'). I recall you mentioning Charlie Patton and another of my favorites, Rev. Gary Davis. I also remembered fondly, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGee. Makes me smile and reach for my guitar to recall the masters.

Sonny Terry!

Makes it about impossible to listen to Dylan play the harmonica without wincing.

Trysts, you are going to turn into a radio bumper music dj soon.  Are you trying to get a list to play at a bar (soothing music to settle the bar fights or high pitched screeching music to get rid of the stragglers at closing)?

AlCzervik

NIN has a lot of good stuff. I really like Fragile. I'm also a big fan of Rage Against the Machine.

Great!

With all the music on this thread, get back to me in 2 years to let me know how you like them.  ;)

Lisa, we forgot John McLaughlin!

Wow! There have been 78 post just since I last checked! I haven't been keeping up, so forgive me if someone else has already posted this. But I want you all to hear Mozart's Rondo in A minor, K. 511. Were all having so much fun with this topic, I think I'll just periodically put up some videos, here is the first:

Another great one. In a previous post I mentioned the Galactic Cowboys. Check this out. No fancy video, unfortunately, but the music is awesome!

I never knew Barkley was into classial music. Who knew?

Lisa, I've heard the same thing from friends about Passion. I've liked a lot of Gabriel's stuff, but I'm going to have to give that a listen.

The time I saw him in concert was when he had The Blind Boys of Alabama open, and, play with him.

Well Al, I've been told I look like Ice Cube, but never Barkley. But in fairness, people only say I look like Ice Cube when my hair starts growing long. In this picture, I had just gotten a hair cut. Anyway, back to the music. Those of you who know about my Facebook page know I put up music videos all the time, I think its fun! Now, as the biggest Van Halen fan ever, I must include them next. The first is from the latest Van Halen CD, then a live one from Sammy, and then Dave, and then some Beethoven, Moonlight Sonata, third movement. I hope you guys are having as much fun as I amSmile.
