Resign button

I try to resign games 4 times, if the button does not work I leave the game.

Have had to do this more than once the past couple of days.  It is very frustrating.

How are you accessing the site? If the app, which one and what version? If the website, what browser and version?

I also have this same issue today. Tested it on Firefox, Brave, and Opera and even with Private Mode to rule out a conflict with browser extensions. The resign button did work for me on the Android App though. Sent a bug report, but this is just strange. Might it have something to do with the new Beta option to confirm each move? I do not have that enabled.

Same here. Cannot use the resign-button and have to leave the game, which is unfair. Until the prob is sorted out, I´m out of here.

I'm having the same problem; the resign button doesn't work during the game, and when I click on the opponent, the score doesn't appear, nothing shows up, just a white rectangle. I have to go to the person's profile to see this information.

Happened to me too (via Chrome). Yesterday had a lost position and spent the last 20 seconds or so trying to resign.

The session before that (on Mar 30th) the resign button was working fine.

The information box over a user’s name is called a “Popover.” I also had this same problem 2 weeks ago, but I found this solution looking at the Developer Tools error messages (Press F12 in most browsers).
1) If you have a Chrome-based browser, type into your url box - “chrome://flags/” and press Enter. Then, find “Experimental Web Platform features” and toggle that to “Enabled.”
2) If you have Firefox, type into your url box - “about:config” and then press Enter. Accept the risk to view the configuration settings. Then, type “dom.element.popover.enabled” and toggle that to “true.”

Same problem here: resign button doesn't show the popover. Safari 26.3.1 on macOS Tahoe 26.3.1. Reproduces without any extensions enabled. Verified that popovers are enabled in feature flags.

I am a paying member (Platinum) and I can no longer play chess on this site because of this issue.

There was a update but Safari gets version 17+ shouldn't be impacted by the change.

I play on Safari and have had 0 issues with resigning ever. Even at 1900 you can bounce back or get a stalemate in shorter time controls so I don’t resign that much but probably 1/3 losing positions end with resignation for me. I play a lot so that’s quite a bit of resignation. I have no problems once again.

My problem (inactive resign button) is likely due to old browser; can't update browser because both my laptop and desktop are out of date and browsers can't be updated. Very frustrating.

That's likely correct. If you're not one of the below versions or newer, you'll likely have the problem

Chrome (Chromium) : 119

Edge : 119

Firefox : 128

Safari : 17

There were code changes that older browsers don't support. More and more things will begin using features older browser versions don't support.

I have Windows 7 with Firefox. I found that I am able to resign if I hit resign then the back arrow.

My workaround for now. I'm not buying a new computer to play chess online.

Disabling “Confirm resign/draw” seems to make the resign/draw/abort buttons work again for me in older versions of Brave (Chrome-based), Opera (Chrome-based), and Firefox than you have listed.

That's because the code change that happened involves the confirmation pop-up. I would have suggested it but in another topic a member said that didn't help them.
