Kicked for Swearing at a time waster?!!!
I think you're just supposed to report the person. On the report just give the evidence for this person perhaps being a repeat offender.
Everything after "kicked for swearing" in your title is superfluous. if you want to discuss time wasters in live chess, that's a topic that does not have anything to do with exonerating/mitigating your behavior ;).
I have reported people before and I don't think it has any effect because if you track the time waster after reporting it they never seem to get banned or have their account closed.
There is an automated swear detector and thats fine by me. How about chess.com addressing the greater problem of time wasters with a strict policy such as the the one used for swearing? I never have people swear at me on here but I encounter time wasters on a daily basis.
well I dont know if there are that many time wasters... yes I have encounterd them, but not on a reguler basis.... the ones I do encounter are generally banned a couple of days later...
chess.com does have a farly stricked way of handling these people... you are a repete offender and you cannot play a game within 5 miniutes of you previuse games... then if they continue to do this then they are banned for playing live chess...
While there are policies for dealing with time wasters, I worry that too strict a policy would unfairly lock out players with poor internet connections.
I once got someone (rated 2189) who stopped when I took a pawn in the middlegame... it doesn't show on my best win because it was unrated
Why are you complaining about a "time waster" as you put it?? You are playing a game that has built in time perameters and if your opponent wants to "waste" their time, so be it...

Wasting your time, as well. But you're a premium member and can play multiple games, so it doesn't affect you.

I do understand what you are saying, your opponent is wasting your time in a sense as well. But that is part of the game, time management.
Yes, I am a "premium" member. But I virtually play NO / very little LIVE chess here on this site. 95% of my games played have been "correspondance". The only "live" games I play are on Tues & Thurs nite at my local chess clubs.
The fact that some people behave badly does not make your own misbehaving less wrong. In this case or in others.
Yeah. Relatively speaking, waiting 7min for his flag to fall seems like forever ( to Live Chess players)
I think the best way to handle a time waster is to use all that idle time to mock them. I do it all the time. Hey, let's face it if they want to play that way, I can too. The other day some un-named person tried this immature crap with me, (1 move away from a forced checkmate & was not making move) so I started mocking him. Well he just started flipping out on me and I just couldn't stop laughing... I got my shots in, and infuriated him in the process too. That's what I call a win-win situation!

I agree with Nitemarecreator. If the game has 10 min time controls, then that means that each side has up to 10 minutes to make their moves. Period. If one side wants to use 7 of those minutes to think of their next move in a lost position, it's their choice. Every time you start a 10 minute game, make sure you have at least 20 minutes of spare time to "waste."
