I'm over on Twitter Yoza. I'm not overly politically active, I was a member of The Mana Party, but now I'm a member of Te Pati Maori (The Maori Party). My political education began at 16 when I left school and began working as a trainee lineman for the Telecom branch of the New Zealand Post Office. We were later referred to with the more inclusive title "line technician", this was 1985 - people were still raving about sliced bread. At the time we had a First Past the Post election system where the country was divided up into electorates and political parties vied to secure their candidate in each electorate - the Party with the most electorate seats then governed for three years. The state and various regional council bodies owned a preponderance of the county's strategic assets.
