A couple nights ago I had an excellent game against "chill5555". It was a very enjoyable game, even though it was tense. It was one of the first 45/45 games I have played in awhile where both players used most of their time. We each had to think c...

I've been busy the last couple of days. Despite that I've still played several games an analyzed several games. I'm trying to play at least one slow game every other day in preparation for a couple tournaments coming up. The games seem to be going...

I had a great live game this evening. I think I did pretty well on it, but I would love feedback from anyone out there.  Here's an older game that I lost. I just got around to analyzing it today: My favorite tactic from the day: My favo...

Favorite Tactic of today: A game that I lost a few days ago. I would love to hear ideas on what my plan could have been in this game:

A month has gone by, and it has been a busy one. The end of the school year is always a whirlwind for me, and my chess playing suffered. It's time to restart my improvement plan. At the beginning of May I ended up in too many Online games to play ...

Tonight I played two very bizarre games against the same person. In the first, an early blunder by my opponent leads to an easy game for me. In the second, I end up getting pushed around quite a bit until I blunder my queen away. In both of these ...

Egads! So another tournament that I had signed up for awhile back just started. I'm up to 30+ games. I will have to play my way out of the mess I'm in.  Tactics went okay tonight: 10/16. Here was the toughest one I missed. On most of the tactics ...

Wow, what a rough couple of weeks. I have been so busy with work I have barely had time for chess. I have gone to the last couple hours of a few of my correspondence games before I had time to think about the game and move. I think I'm probably in...

Another good day of working on the chess. Not enough time to do everything I wanted (I only made moves on a few of my correspondence games and did some tactics), but I still was able to spend some time on it. 10/16 on tactics gave me a slightly im...

Things are progressing nicely in my chess improvement plan. My correspondence games are exiting the opening (or at least exiting theory). I've got a couple of good games going on. Tactics for today: 10/13.  I also watched this interesting analysi...

Gah! What a terrible tactics day. I got 20/45. I lost most of the ground I gained yesterday. However, of all the tactics I got right, here was my favorite: One of the other things I do besides tactics is review my games. I keep a database of my...

I tried a lot of tactics today. I was able to get 30/49. I feel okay about that. Many of the ones I missed I was able to get a part of the tactic, but I missed the second (or third) move. Speaking of tactics, here are two puzzles based off a real...

Today was a good chess day for me. I was able to go 20/25 on the tactics today. This was the one I am most proud of finding the solution to. I was also able to play a slow game tonight. It was a Petroff Defense, and I don't get to see that too of...

I fell into my old ways with Tactics Trainer. I did a lot of tactics without a lot of thinking carefully. I just went with my gut on a lot of the answers. Because of this I went 16/34. Time to get back on the wagon.

After a much more normal day of work, I was able to come home and focus well on the tactics. I got 8/10. Here are the two I missed. See if you can do better than me.  I enjoy the tactics trainer quite a bit. From some of the comments it seems lik...

Super long day at work today. I did my tactics (6 correct of 11.... brain fried), but I decided to put all the correspondence games on hold for the night. No brain space to carefully think about my moves. Favorite tactic of the day and favorite t...

Sadly, no full games of chess today. I'm playing my correspondence games very slowly, though that is not keeping me completely blunder free. In one of my games my opponent just had a nice series of queen moves that will win my bishop. In tactics ...

I've been working on improving my chess game for awhile, and I decided I want a record of that progress. I'm currently unrated USCF, but I have been playing on this site for about a year. Here is my basic plan for improvement: 10+ tactics every ...
