Champions' League - Part 2
The Champions' League continues! If you haven't looked at Part 1 yet, I strongly advise you to do so. Anyway, onwards with the games!
Round 4
Game 1: Anand vs Kramnik 1-0
Kramnik eventually falls with a one-turn blunder. I honestly think Kramnik would never play a move like this, but that's what makes bots fun to play against!
Game 2: Carlsen vs Ding 1-0
In this game, Carlsen capitalizes on an endgame mistake Ding makes. The resulting position is still messy, but Carlsen comes out on top.
Round 5
Game 1: Kramnik vs Carlsen 0.5-0.5
After a rough first matchup, Kramnik is able to steer the ship through the storm. This game was a pretty even game; neither player had a significant advantage at any time during the game. As such, there aren't any annotations.
Game 2: Ding vs Anand 0-1
Ding made a bad mistake in the middlegame, which lost the game immediately. I'm not even going to comment about it here; just look at the game.
Round 6
Game 1: Kramnik vs Ding 0-1
Somehow, Kramnik blunders a bare king + pawns endgame in an equal position. Again, I'll let the position speak for itself.
Game 2: Anand vs Carlsen 0.5-0.5
Why do Anand and Carlsen like playing extremely equal games? This game was again very accurate, and neither player had a large lead.
The final scores are: Carlsen 4.5/6, Anand 4.5/6, Ding 2/6, Kramnik 1/6. We'll hold a tiebreak for Carlsen and Anand in the final blog post!
