Welcome to another Grasshopper Antics! This time, we will explore how good of a piece Grasshoppers are.
What do you mean?
Grasshoppers have a very unique way of traveling, and, when on the opponent’s back rank, can destroy your position if that piece has no flight squares. Say that the opponent’s Queen has no flight squares, and you’re two squares away, with a piece that isn’t a Queen or Rook or King there, and that piece that’s between the Grasshopper and the Queen can’t move. That means, you can pick off the Queen on the next turn. They can be destructive!
