Hi everyone! My name is Nick and this may surprise you, but I love chess. between 2014 and 2019 I had been about a ~1400 player in over the board (OTB) chess with no noticeable progress. Last year, I made a new years resolution to improve 100 rating points each year. That year, I grew 150 points and my rating has continued to climb. My hope is to become a chess expert (2000 rating) by the year 2023, but I've realized that in order to to this it takes hard work, training, study, and a lot of games. I've been playing and studying seriously for over a year now and have no plans on stopping. Follow my rating progress here: http://www.uschess.org/datapage/ratings_graph.php?memid=12743930. This year's goal is to reach 1700. Next year, 1800. The year after that 1900. And finally 2000! Below...

(Spanish/English) FM since 2009. In 2013 I got the TLCommunications Engineer Title and since then, I have been teaching chess and playing official tournaments. Mail: michechess89@gmail.com Whatsapp: +5353223262 Two IM norms (struggling for the 3rd), I've been over 2400. During last 6 years I have been training and teaching chess, some of my students have become national champions in children's categories. How long does it take for a student to get 100 points? I have seen some of my students improve 100 points on their peak rating after 20 hours of lessons. This is very variable, it depends on so many things, but some of them have got that. This means that working two hours in the week, you could be able to get 100 points in 10 weeks (or faster, or slower). Benefits of Chess: https://www....

I was born in 1960 - the year a young Mikhail Tal became World Champion. After leaving the British junior chess circuit I started working unusual hours and have done ever since. For that reason I had very little chance to play chess as an adult, and instead bought chess books. At least 1000 have passed through my hands, and I have gone over at least 50,000 Master level games. I am fascinated by chess as an evolutionary process, and have been writing about chess history since the days when I had to type up articles on a stencil for a 'duplicating machine'. There is a saying :- 'No-one is entitled to an opinion. Everyone is entitled to an informed opinion. Who would say that they are entitled to ignorance.' Sometimes things that ' everybody knows' are not true. All chess players are my frie...
