The top four 1/2|0 players will progress. These players must provide their first and last name and country of origin on their profile and must provide a webcam/screen-share if requested at any time during the semi-finals or finals. To calculate the top players, players' top 2 arenas scores in each time control will be summed separately. These scores will be ranked in two lists, and the top four highest scores will advance from each time control. This means you have more chance to qualify for the semi-finals if you play in more arenas. The top 10 players in each time control will be made publicly known, and remaining players may be called upon during the finals as a replacement. In the event that a qualifying player does not want to, or cannot play in a semi-final, the next online player in that time control will be asked to take their place. This means that the top 10 players have a chance of playing in the semi-finals if they are online at the time of the semi-finals. Replacements will have their scores reset to match the last place's score. The Semi-Finals Semi-Final 1 - 17:00 UTC - Saturday, February 10, 2024 Results will be updated here. Semi-Final 2 - 15:00 UTC - Saturday, February 10, 2024 Results will be updated here. The top two seeded 1|1 players will play with the bottom two seeded 1/2|0 players in SF1. The bottom two seeded 1|1 players will play with the top two seeded 1/2|0 players in SF2. Semi-Finals will consist of 1 hour of each time control. If the last game ends after 58 minutes, the match for that time control will be over. A timeout cannot be declared after 50 minutes into that time control. If the last game ends after 1 hour, that game will count towards the scores. Please note that the following times are SET: SF1 will start at 17:00 UTC Saturday, February 10. SF2 will start at 15:00 UTC Saturday, February 10. The top two scores will progress, and will be calculated as such: 1 | 1 FFA:1st - 9pt2nd - 5pt3rd - 4pt4th - 0pt 1/2 | 0 FFA:1st - 3pt2nd - 2pt3rd - 1pt4th - 0pt Players will have one (1) 5-minute timeout per player. Players will get a 15-minute break between the time controls. Players will have to hit rematch within 60 seconds of the games ending. If the players fail to hit rematch, an administrator will reinvite them all and request that they accept. If they fail to accept (or if they abort a started game) they will go through the following penalty process: 1. Timeout deducted 2. Point deduction equivalent to a Win that the time control the players are playing 3. Disqualification and a replacement player will be selected within 5 minutes. In the event of a tiebreak, the player with the most 1st place games will progress. Should this tiebreak not work in the Semi-Final, the player with the higher score in their most recent game will advance to the final should that be necessary. In the absolute rare event that the games are all tied between the two players, the player with the last move in the most recent game will be declared the winner. Upon qualifying for the Semi-Final, players must meet and agree with Championship / Prize Money Eligibility Terms & Conditions within a week of qualifying/being selected. By playing in these arenas, you agree that you meet the basic eligibility requirements. If a player flags/disconnects, it is apparent that the server was the issue, not the player's internet, the game will not count towards the match, and the time will be reset to what it was at the start of that game. The Final Finalists will be updated here. All finalists will earn a prize! The prize money is as follows:Champion: $400 (400 USD)2nd: $300 (300 USD)3rd: $200 (200 USD)4th: $100 (100 USD) Finalists will play 2 days of matches, playing 1 hour of each time control each day. Point deduction equivalent to a Win that the time control the players are playing 3. Disqualification and a replacement player will be selected within 5 minutes. In the event of a tiebreak, the player with the most 1st place games will win. Should this tiebreak not work in the Final, tied players will split prize money evenly. Upon qualifying for the Final, players must meet and agree with Championship / Prize Money Eligibility Terms & Conditions within a week of qualifying/being selected. By playing in these arenas, you agree that you meet the basic eligibility requirements. In the event that a qualifying player does not want to, or cannot play in a final, the next online player in that time control will be asked to take their place. This means that the top 10 players have a chance of playing in the final if they are online at the time of the final. Replacements will have their scores reset to match the last place's score. Hello Chess.com 4players community,Link to [removed by admin] I recently encountered an issue while playing a regular game where a blue player explicitly sought assistance from a green player in the chat, and they subsequently teamed up against me. Given a previous incident where I was mistakenly blocked, I'm now seeking insights from fellow players. [image removed by admin] Has anyone faced a similar situation, and if so, were the players involved penalized? I'm curious to know if collaborative assistance is considered a violation and if there are measures in place to address such instances. Additionally, considering my past experience with an erroneous block, is there a way for me to verify if appropriate actions are taken in cases like these? Your input and experiences are highly appreciated. Let's discuss and shed light on the fairness of gameplay in four-player chess. Thank you.
I don't hear sounds when I play. I hear music, every sounds on computer, my web sound is on, also in settings I have sound on 100% and I it doesn't work. Can someone help?
This thread is for discussing the new version of 4-Player-Chess. Post your suggestions here, tell us what you like, and what you don't. For Bug reports, please use this topic: https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/list-of-known-bugs > @GongGong0607 > I don't understand the full logic behind the point system. Why do I get +13 p and my partner only gets +12 p? The new rating system (Glicko) takes into account how many games you played. If your partner played more games than you, his rating may be more stable. So, his rating change is smaller. Even if you played in 1 team and you both had the same rating before the game. > @GongGong0607 > Players who resigning without playing 10-20 moves should be the only ones who got punished with point-loss. Currently the rules are: FFA: If a player resigns or times out before having made at least 4 moves, he will lose rating and the game will be aborted. Exceptions: a player has already gained points, or the player that resigned/timed out was in check. Teams: If a player resigns or times out on his first move, he will lose rating and the game will be aborted. These rules were applied yesterday when we released the new 4PC version. Currently we are not going to change it to 10-20 moves. The rules can be changed in future, but I don't think it will jump from 4 moves to 10 or 20. > @GongGong0607 > The new chatbot with the fat letters is disturbing the view on the game. It is like driving a car, and a bird plays Peek-A-Boo in the right side mirror. The chat panel has a transparent background now. Bold letters are visible on all backgrounds. However, I will think about it. Perhaps we'll make an option (settings) to use a regular font weight in chat messages.

I was testing a custom variant vs computer and I aborted some games but it was only unrated games vs a computer so why does it still flag it.

Hi everyone, There is a highly welcome poll about FFA vs solo mode in Chaturaji. However, since the comments in that forum are so strictly positive about the coming change I wanted to supply a few words of caution. 1. I don't necessarily churn playing for 2nd place as a mark of poor play or "bad quality" as most of the commentators (and also admin) seem to see it. Rather, many in many situations in both chaturaji and 4PC you can opt for risky strategies that are dynamic and add life to the game. Mostly in solo mode, such strategies are immediately punished, which makes for a more cautious and also more predictable game. I for one do no see those qualities as the sole qualities in any type of chess. Solo play in 4player variants has its value, but I think it would be a great shame to "phase out" the FFA-mode among strong players, which is what most players (and also admin) seem to want. I am around (2200) and I think the FFA mode is fun to play and leaves room for daring ways of attack that will be stifled by monopolizing the solo mode. 2. The anti-cheating argument is brought up against the FFA mode in general. If the two winners of an FFA-match are a secret team, they can handily share the points for the two top positions. This is a real problem, I've seen it happen and it is of course vastly irritating. The same goes for the FFA mode in 4PC where cheating becomes even more obvious, when people are letting their friends' pieces hang while they capture yours. However, I suggest that we should not let the cheaters dictate ways to play chess. Cheating can and will occur however the rules are set. Me, I am a recreational player who don't take rating so seriously (especially not in variants), so I just block those who I perceive as cheaters and go on to play with a lot of nice (not cheating) opponents. All in all, I think FFA should be kept and defended. It has a lot to teach about 4player strategy and dynamic. I also think I have earned second place many times as a part of very ambitious play and creative but daring calculations. As for cheating in FFA 4PC and Chaturaji, I think there might exist interesting ways of countering it by adding some rules that disable lopsided play. Thanks for the word, please tell me what you think in this matter! All the best to all you honest players out there, and I wish you all a good chess year 2024! Yours Johannes Spartak
